I love Kuirau Park and always take overseas visitors there. It is free, right next to Rotorua's CBD and is a great introduction to the geothermal activity Rotorua is famous for, but which many Kiwis take for granted. Boiling mud, boiling water, steam, steam and more steam. Well worth a quick visit, even if you intend visiting places such as Wai-O-Tapu or Whakarewarewa.
