Woke up on Tuesday morning, opened the curtain and there was a strange blue colouring to the sky and occasionally a glimpse of a yellow sphere - very strange!
Despite the good weather the walk was cancelled mainly due to zero temp at the summit and gale force winds. This meant a rethink on the day ahead so we decided to go up the mountain anyway! We drove up to the car park and took a chair lift to the ski slopes. Bloody freezing! but excellent views (when the clouds parted)
A coffee in the restaurant was followed by a descent in the chair lift and then onwards to Taupo (again!)
This time the weather was brilliant and we stopped many times for photo opportunities (and yes I will load some photos soon!)
We stopped north of Taupo at the Huka Falls (Via the Prawn Farm - including "Killer Prawn Golf" no really!!)
Very impressive waterfall and then onto to the "Craters of the Moon" thermal walk.
to be continued...
