Our Van!Our Van!Our Van!

Our bed
Our campervan worked out great last night. We made dinner, read for awhile in bed, and didn't get too cold during the night. This morning we got up and made our way to Rotorua. The campground we are staying at is right next to Lake Rotorua. This place has a lot of geothermal activity, so there are some hot pools here and a place to steam food!

We stopped by the i-Site and got tickets for the Skyline Skyrides and Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland (for tomorrow). We drove out of Rotorua to Mamaku Blue, which is a blueberry winery. We got to sample some jams, chutneys, chillies, and some wine and liqueurs. We got a bottle of blueberry wine to drink some night. It was all very tasty! Afterward, we went to the Gondola and rode it up to the top of a hill. The view from up there was excellent. With our gondola tickets we also got to try out the luge. It's a little gravity powered cart you sit in, that you control with your handlebars. Pulling the bars closer to you will start the breaks, and you can steer while doing that. There were three different tracks to

try out - the first one we did was the beginner one. It was a lot of fun, and you can get going pretty fast. We got to the bottom and took the ski-lift back up to ride it again. This time we went down the intermediate track, and Adam zoomed down and I never saw him again. He said at one corner he almost flew off the track! I took it slower at some parts and totally got passed by more daring drivers. I still really enjoyed myself though. I wish we had something like this at home!

This afternoon we walked by the lake, where you can dig a hole and it'll have bubbling water in it that's hot. Adam put his feet in one, said it was hot, but was afraid of melting his sandals. We then went and soaked in the hot pools they have. One was super hot (around 40 degrees Celcius) and after a few minutes I started feeling dizzy and really sweaty. It was way too hot for me. I moved to the other one, which was warm and nice. We hung out in that one for a lot longer. That evening

we made ourselves some dinner, tried to figure out our plan for the following day, and went to bed.
