This morning we got up early and were out at about 8:15. We stopped in town for a few lovely pasties for breakfast, then went over to the gondola for its 9:00am opening time. Our objective: get to the top of the mountain and ride the luge as many times as possible before leaving for Waitomo Caves. We managed three rides each, and enjoyed them all. Following the mandatory first round on the beginner’s track, I opted for the advanced track on my remaining two rides. The steep hills and sharp banks of the advanced track always get my adrenaline going. Unfortunately we had to cut things short around 10:15am to get down the mountain and head for Waitomo Caves. Rich did a champion job of zipping us across the Waikato region in a quick 2-2.5 hours to make our 1:30 appointment with Spellbound for their cave tour....
