We had 3 days left of our trip so we went back up to Orewa, near Auckland to stay with Jane and her family. After the cold and rain in the South, this was a nice change before heading back to England and the snow! We flew from Christchurch to Auckland and Jane picked us up from the city and took us back to her house. Once back to their house, we had some lunch and headed straight to their local beach called 'Red Beach.' James got some surfing lessons from Ian and after picking it up really quickly, stood up and rode some waves!

The next day we got up and James and I went to another beach slightly closer to the house and had lunch. In the afternoon Jane took us to Wenderholm Nature Reserve where we did a walk through what seemed like jungle, snaking up towards some amazing views of their surrounding area. From the top of the cliff you can even see the Coromandel Peninsula! None of us were brave enough to go in the sea here to cool off! We spent the rest of the day watching the cricket and in the evening had

a go on the new addition to the family- the limbo machine... sadly Jack and Tom were the only ones who could actually get under it.

On our last day in New Zealand Jane, James and I went over to the West Coast to see at the black sand beaches at Muriwai. The black sand is caused by volcanic rock being grinded down to create the dark sand. It was a 40 minute drive from East Caost to West and once there we took a walk onto the beach and had a cup of tea and biscuits on the beach. Normally it's very windy here, but it was lovely for our last day. The tides are dangerous here but there were loads of surfers in the water. We walked up to see the views of the whole beach and then drove to Maori Bay which is a bit more sucluded with dark black sand, it was amazing! We had some lunch when we got back, waited for Jack to come back from school and then said our goodbye's and Jane dropped us back in Auckland to catch our flight home.

We had such a great time with the Taylor's, it was the perfect end to our trip... we just can't believe it's over!
