Napier at nightNapier at nightNapier at night

shot taken by Dave
Hi again,
Thanks for the sarcy comments 'bigbro'. Well the night in Taupo was rather more lively than we planned. With a meal and drink for what came to 4 pounds and a good view of the screen for the NZ versus Auz match. (NZ won for anyone who doesn't know. Well a few drinkies later and Laura and Elinor are dancing away and Dave being very entertaining as usual. The YHA there is fab, the guy is so friendly and the place gets a view of the lake in the distance.

Next morning feeling a little tired we set of for Napier, arriving around luchtime for a picnic on the beach. Then spent a wee bit of time doing a winery tour, guided by our little map. Managed 3, park estate (rude host), Church road (very friendly, great wine) and Mission estate (even more friendly and even better wine). Then the bug took hold and the guys wanted to play mini golf, oh I hate it! Although I did get 2 holes in one, Dave and Simon drew 1st place, me in second and then Laura and Elinor. Very competitive, the phrase 'only a game' comes to mind. Then

an easy night in with us all tired.

Today we have made it to my parents and have been greeted by 3 orphan lambs, which laura won't let go of and of course the rest of the gang and a subdued Itsa goat. Just had a fab meal in the sun and will be heading for Somewhere south of here in a couple of hours after another lamb feed.

Dave here! havent done a blog for sometime - just havent had time, but thankfully gems been keeping you all updated along with organising all the accommodation for everyone/ driving/ making pack-lunches/ arranging all the activities / refilling the drinks/ directing the route plan and generally keeping everyone happy- how does she do it? - i guess she is a supernurse!

We've decided to stay at gems parents for the night and then Wellington tomorrow, so Laura and elinor can get some more lamb bonding time and we can sample some of Brendas famous chocolate cake!?

Hope all is well and S+D hope the graveyard hunting is going well/ oh and how are my Nieces doing?

We are trying to get some photos on here but having to wait till we get to an internet cafe, hopefully in Wellington tomorrow.

Ta ta!

bids, jabs and jobs
hey both- great bloggin! we put an offer in on the graveyard but it was repossessed (no pun intended but hopefully not an omen!) then the offer was refused by the building society who now own the house. so put a higher offer in today but no news. went to a village event in the hall that would be at the end of our 'garden'. It was called the 'late summer produce show' and it was SO DIBLEY! There were the usual jam, flower andheaviest marrow competitions, but also categories entitled 'best animal made out of fruit and veg' which had me in tears, and a classic that reminded me of hellgill new year's flap-a-fish and ping-pong ducks (family joke viewers)...'best decorated wooden spoon'- hope to get the house even just to clean up on the village trophies, as the efforts were little more than cooking spoons, felt tip and more glue than sequins. anyway, dinyar into his second week of new job now and still falling asleep at 7pm (you've got all that to come!) and mum's been in touch to see if we had rabies jabs- we did- i think it was a series of 2. we also had japanise encephalitis jabs (series of three i think) and not just for Japan. can't remember what we had for which country so best bet is to get a pharmacist to look it up and refer you to a local doctor with a travel clinic who'll charge you on the spot but probably fit you in quickly. World Health Org website (WHO.org or similar) has latest news on requirements. One to watch is some countries need evidence of yellow fever jab so make sure you get a certificate/card signed by the doctor who gives it, if it turns out you need it.Will try and dig out more about the jabs we had next weekend if i kept it... love to both for now xxx
