Napier By
UVMarch 17th 2007 Well, sometimes you just need a place to rest. For me, this place was Napier.
I have been moving a lot in the week before, so I really needed to stop, and suddenly the conditions were perfect: small city, right on the pacific coast, peculiar Art-Deco architecture (it was completely rebuilt in the 1930th after an earthquake), excellent lookout from a near-by hill with magnificent sunsets, lovely friendly hostel and even two guys from the hostel I went drinking with, cause it was St. Patrick day. I was sitting there, in some Irish pub, in this out of the way cute town, with a British guy and an American, and later also the Chinese girlfriend of the American, people I only met a few hours ago, watching Kiwis getting really drunk while wearing green hats (the Kiwis, not me). Got me thinking.
And I still don't know what Napier's called after.

There's a Scottish clan called Napier
Don't know if it has any connection to the town's name though...
