How you goin?!
Tauranga had a pretty little town but not much else, so we stayed just one night here. The following day we continued onto Matamata or 'Hobbiton' as it has been known just 30 mins from tauranga. This is where the lord of the rings, hobbit set was filmed - 'The shire'. But it cost an absolute fortune to go on and most of it had been taken apart, so all that was left was empty shells! So we gave it a miss. As Matamata is a small town (Also still pretty), we thought we would carry onto to Hamilton, that afternoon.
Hamilton seemed like a really nice town, with some really nice areas to shop, while we were there, the V8 super car race was due to start on the friday and we were there on the thursday, the wholw town was decorated in black and white flags. Its the first time the race has been held in Hamilton so the whole town went crazy for it!
The day after we carried on up to Coromandel, as we really wanted to visit hot water beach. If you dig a hole on the beach it fills

...what a sculpture,but really quite horrible!with hot water from natural hot springs, so we headed to the beach and dug a hole, but unfortunately, we didnt get any hot water. Apparently it has to be 2 hours either side of high tide! But even so we had a laugh on the beach. There is also some excellent views of Coromandel and the bay of plenty, and its a really pretty place.
