Bay of islands..Bay of islands..Bay of islands..

..although it was raining and foggy so they dont look that great!
How you goin?!

After Coromandel, we had a 6 1/2 hour drive to Paihia, which are where the bay of islands is. Is was a long and twisty drive up and over mountains as much of the driving is in New Zealand! When we got to Paihia, it was late afternoon, so we watched a couple of films on the ipod and chillaxed.

The following day we got up and went for a hike to get a good view of the islands and it was well worth it! We also had a walk in Keri keri, a local town, where we walked along the river to rainbow falls which was really nice! it was really pretty and the town is famous for its stone store house that was built in 1822. The house is one of the first English settlements ansd is the oldest and only one still standing in New zealand! After this we had some lunch and had a look around the town. The town is really lovely and surprisingly busy with visitors. It had a Dartmouth feel to it, with quaint little arty shops, cafes and ice creamiers! After a pretty full day, we were tired,

so we hit the hay a little earlier, we were also getting up early to have a full day driving to Cape Reinga, which is the northernmost point of the North island!

The next day was a long day of sightseeing and we started by visiting the Puketi kauri forest, home to the giant kauri trees. We just had a little hike into the forest until we saw them and they are really huge! Our next destination was the tip of the north island - Cape Reinga. Just before Cape Reinga there are the giant sand dunes, we went and had a look! You can hire sand boards and go surfing down the dunes and it was really busy with people hiking up the dunes and going down on the boards! It looked like alot of fun, but we had gotten there quite late in the day and still had a 90 min drive back to ninety male beach.

On our way back down we stopped in this shop we had heard about and got a $2 ice cream which was massive. The following day was our last long day of driving in New Zealand as we were

driving back to Auckland - Our last stop! On the way we passed the giant kauri kingdom palace, which is where they make the kauri trees into furniture. They had an amazing staircase made inside of a kauri tree trunk it was huge and really impressive. After we had the rest of a very long drive to Auckland which would take about 6 1/2 hours!

Until next time party on dudes
