Ali in a freshwater Creek
Wade in the water, I said wade in the water! Hey guys sorry its been such a long time since our last post (nearly 2 weeks! ). Weve got so much to catch up, I dont know where to begin! I'll start by telling you about where we are now, we checked into the Skycity Hotel in auckland, NZ, last night for our 1 night of pure luxuary, which included a meal at the top of the tallest building in the southern hemisphere and a suite, let me just repeat that, a suite! in the hotel. we were met at our taxi by a concierge who took our bags on a trolley, after checking in we followed the concierge up to our suite and we very kindly gave him a nice tip, a few seconds later he had left and we were dancing and jumping around occasionally with one of us shouting something like "weve got 2 TV's!!" or " weve got a dining table" or "theres a bathroom, and a shower room!!". We then composed our selves and quickly started getting ready to go for dinner at orbit resteraunt, a rotating resteraunt 190 meters above Auckland! We both dressed up really smartly and Ali looked stunning in her "little black
coloured sands
coloured sands next to the 'highway' dress", it was a truely amazing experience that I would recomend to anyone coming to New Zealand, oh and the food wasnt bad either! We spent about 20 mins in the casino then retired to our suite for our complementary bottle of sparkling wine and a chill out in our complimentary robes, this morning we had a room service breakfast which again was delicious! so thats Sky City! Oh and did I forget to mention that at a very slight extra cost were are extending our stay here an extra 3 nights! WOHOO!!!!!!!
So let's go back, way back to the last time we posted a blog! which was, erm, no idea! Now that I have checked it was Rockhampton that we last told you about which means that we've got absolutely loads to tell you about! So after Rockhampton we again headed south to Hervey bay which is where we last posted a message up! We went on the Fraiser Island tour we told you about and it was absolutely amazing! Fraiser Island is the worlds largest sand island and is also home to Australia's most dense Dingo population, along with that it has some really beautiful fresh

if you look really closely you can see the light reflecting off the water otherwise its so clear you wouldnt know it was there water streams and lakes (which we waded and swam in respectively!), and a ship wreck that has been on the beach since before WWII. Also the 84 Mile 'highway' was in fact a beach, a proper sandy, waves lapping on it beach, oh and did I mention it doubles as a runway for scenic tour flights! We had a really amazing day on Fraiser and saw some absolutely beautiful scenery including coloured sands and tropical rainforests. When we got back to the hostel it was just getting dark and we were pretty hungry so we decided to go out to get some food and also phone around to try and sort out some accomodation for Brisbane as the booking we had made apparantly was not made soon enough (over 6 months), and the hostel had no record of us whatsoever!
We began to get a little worried after phoning several places to be told that they were full because the EKKA was in town. The EKKA is basically a large fun fair as far as we could work out but it goes on for 9 days and apparantly fills most of Brisbane. Fortunately we managed to find a nice

despite pleas from the locals stew puts his stinky feet into a local fresh water creek. little hostel just a couple of mins walk from Roma street station, which was again clean and friendly as most places have been. We got checked in and immediately dropped our bags in our room and went out exploring as we had a very limited time in Brisbane city (from around 4 o'clock when we checked in to whatever time we left for the zoo the next day!). We spent a while walking around Brisbane and although it was a nice looking, well established City with every kind of shop or business you could want we were not overly impressed mainly because of the service we got from both the food court where we had lunch and the upmarket bar on the main street in town, both of which had all the charm of a hungry albino wombat! and when we payed more at the bar for a beer than we had anywhere else in australia and had to wait over 15 mins for the privalidge of drinking it, we were begining to loose faith in Brisbane! We stopped at another couple of bars on the way back to our hostel, which were ok but nothing special, and then decided
Shipwreck
this ship is actually on the 'highway' we would just get a pizza and head back to the hostel and call it a night.
Now, as I've been typing this Ali has been typing the next section of getting you up to date and hopefully you will be reading these in chronological order so i will pass you via the magic of internet on to Ali who will fill you in on Australia zoo and our time with Mike and Lynne, and then if your really dedicated and get through that as well I'll catch up with you in Sydney and you know about our first night in new zeland so we should be all up to date.
