Edit Blog Post
Unfortunately this blog is going to be one of the least exciting since we haven't really done many activities in the north island! We kind of blew our New Zealand budget on the crazy activities in the south island!
From Kaikoura we jumped onto the Blueridge ferry across to Wellington! We checked into the Cambridge hotel which had a small backpackers section! There wasn't a great deal to do here but we went for a walk around the harbour and did some laundry...hmm... that was it really! We did get up early one morning to watch the United vs Chelsea game but before we knew it we were on our way to Taupo!
Taupo has been our favourite place in New Zealand we had great weather for the 6 days we were there and you can do all the adrenaline pumped activities you can in Queenstown but cheaper!
The first night Chris entered a poker tournament at the hostel for the chance to win a $100 bar tab, which he didn't win unfortunately but we did meet one of the largest human beings on the planet called 'Biggy!'
We spent some time sunbathing beside the river and lake, we even went
for a swim in the clear river on the way to Huka falls! It took us about 3 hours to get there because we stopped for the natural hot springs on the way ( due to the lake being on top of a volcano) and to go for a dip in the 'refreshing' river! Chris got caught with his pants down at the river as when he was putting his swimming shorts on he saw that a girl was coming so rushed to get his pants back on and ended up putting his foot through his pocket instead of the leg hole! The girl was shocked to see a one legged naked guy with his family jewels on show and couldn't of got away any faster! Natalie was meant to be holding the towel during all of this ...revenge was in order!
We booked Fiji while we were in Taupo which got us really excited for it! We will be there on the 19th and were staying at a place called Octopus Resort for most of it! The bad side to this was that a huge chunk of cash came out of the bank. Chris looked pale for the rest
of the day after realising he only had £10 left in his account!
We got up early doors twice that week to watch United vs Liverpool and City vs Villa! Commitment!
Once our time had finished in Taupo it was on to our final destination in New Zealand, Auckland!
The bus took about 5 hours to get to the city which meant that it was time to get Natalie back for not holding the towel at the river! Whilst Natalie was asleep peacefully with her mouth wide open catching the flies, Chris grabbed his pen and artistically drew a Hitler moustache on her innocent little face, did he feel guilty about it??? ... Not a chance! After she had spoken to a few strangers on the bus and in the cafe , nature called and Chris knew it was game over when she stormed out of the toilets with a clean face and a clenched fist! The whole prank did give a South African couple a giggle on the bus and Chris was in tears during his work of art!
Auckland is no different to any other city we have been too. We probably made a little bit of a
mistake spending 6 days here but Fiji will be worth the wait!
The hostel we are in is simply hideous, the room constantly smells of armpit, four bunk beds are crammed into a tiny room and its full of **** heads! One of our roommates enters the room at 5 am every morning with the same tart and does a Fred Flinstone ( makes the bedrock! )
We went to the viaduct yesterday night which is great for a day dream with all the really nice boats around and would've been better if we could afford to eat at the restaurants there.
We are currently writing this in a park where we have just been surprised by a loud crackle of thunder, a few sirens followed so someone clearly has there hair stood on end.
Our last days here are going to be Skyping with our families and getting our clothes washed for Fiji!
Two weeks and we will be home!
