Happy 2010 everyone! hope you are all good and the weather isn't too cold where you are, hate to rub it in but we have been having some FABULOUS weather (at long last!)
I will keep this blog entry short and sweet, mainly because we haven't been up to an awful lot other then going to work (yes, we think we hear a faint sound of violins playing just for us!) but its not been all work an no play, we had some fab days out on the beach, including Piha, which is just amazing, the landscape is really dramatic and the beach has black sand, (which is bloody hot to walk on but bloody funny watching everyone else do the mad dash across the beach!)
We also headed off to the Big Day Out in Jan, which is kinda like our version of the V or Reading Festival, great fun was had by all! we saw some brilliant acts including Ladyhawke, Kasabian, Calvin Harris and MUSE (Mike and I were so happy we got to see them over here!) we also poked fun at the likes of Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal, we must be

Get Ready for the black sand sprint! getting old!
Also headed over to Devonport and got caught in the mother of all storms, the weather doing its usual 4 seasons in one day nonsense, that really lets you know you are in NZ
Other then chilling out on the beach we have been making plans for the final leg of our journey to the South Island. In March we will be flying down to Queenstown to check out Milford Sound (which is right at the bottom of the South Island) we will then be travelling to Dunedin and spending a few days there tramping and viewing the wildlife (inc albatrosses and penguins) before catching the bus up to Christchurch and spending a few days there before flying back to Auckland packing up the remainder of our stuff and flying out to Hong Kong on March 9th....so excited! we both cant wait!
We are sad to be leaving NZ but very excited to be going to Asia and of course seeing you all in May 2010
Miss you all lots!
Love
Marie and Mike
PS prob best not to send us anything in the post as some of our mail has
been going missing and we will be moving out...who ever stole our Christmas cards and parcels shame on you!
