Our 1st amazing views after leaving Auckland
Flying into New Zealand was just amazing. As we looked out of the plane window the clouds parted and we saw the coastline below - turquoise blue water, sandy bays, green countryside - simply beautiful. You could hear an audible gasp from everyone on the plane. I managed to gasp out the words "It's so beautiful" then I couldn't help having a few tears. I felt so emotional. We headed straight for our hostel and got down to the task of finding a campervan to buy. This took 3 days of searching and seeing some real heaps, before we settled on Erica. Although small, she has everything we need and she's quite a young lass - only 8 years old. It was the best feeling leaving Auckland behind us and feeling the freedom of our own independance. We headed up the west coast via Helensville with a short detour to kit ourselves out with duvet, sheet and pillows, then onto Shelly Beach for lunch. After this we headed up the coast towards our first destination - Matakohe.
