Auckland est la plus grande ville de NZ avec un peu plus d'1 million d'habitants (ce qui est aussi la population totale de l'ile Sud!).
Une sorte de mini Sydney, Auckland est agreable, cosmopolitaine, et les bars et clubs ne manquent pas. Une fois de plus la NZ ne manque pas a sa reputation de pays "d'aventures" puisque du haite de la tour Sky Tower (328m) on peut sauter en chute llibre attache a des cables. Un truc de fous. Et quand on etait en haut de la tour, on a vu des gens sauter. Assez incroyable et ca vous met vraiment des frissons dans le dos!
On a pris le ferry pour Devonport, une jolie banlieue d'Auckland avec une vue panoramique de la ville.
Sinon, le zoo est aussi une tres bonne activite a faire (et beaucoup plus calme). Et enfin, pour la premiere en 2 mois, on a vu le fameux kiwi (l'oiseau pas le fruit!)! Ce petit animal endemique a la NZ qui ne vit que la nuit car pour ne pas etre une proie facile a ses predateurs. Son plumage est plutot de la fourrure et avec son long bec, il attrape les insectes qui vivent dans
le sol. C'est le seul oiseau qui a un os au bout du bec (!) et dont l'oeuf est le plus gros proportionnellement a sa taille! De plus, le kiwi ne vole pas et a 2 grosses pattes pour se proteger. C'est aussi un oiseau de la meme famille que le kassoar, l'emeu, et un oiseau neo-zelandais qui n'existe plus, le moa. Et donc comme je le disais, le kiwi ne sort que la nuit, ce qui explique pourquoi les photos sont sombres.
Et voila, derniere destination en Nouvelle Zelande avant de prendre l'avion pour le Chili vendredi...
La Nouvelle Zelande aura vraiment ete un pays magnifique a explorer avec ses paysages superbes, ses animaux incroyables, sa culture maori tres interessante et ses gens super gentils. On y reviendra un jour, j'en suis sur!

as you can ebven jump from the top of the Skytower, only supported by cables (328m high!). Mental!
You can also take the ferry to Devonport a nice area of Auckland which gives you a great view of ther city.
Otherwise, the zoo is also worth going to as they have a really good variety of animals and also the famous and rare kiwi (the bird, not the fruit). This little bird with its strong legs is a cousin of the Aussie cassowary, emu and the now extinct nz bird, the moa. The kiwi is endemic to NZ and can be found in a few areas only. It goes out at night to avoid being seen by predators during the day. Its feathers are almost like fur and it's the only bird that has a little bone at the end of its beak. Like I said, it only goes out at night which explains why the photos are dark.

New Zealand has truly been a fantastic country with its incredibly beautiful landscapes, its interesting Maori culture, its fun weird animals and its ever so nice people. We'll miss
it, but we'll come back here one day, that's for sure!
