We have arrived back home from our wonderful holiday in Australia. Chelle and Joel picked us up from the Airport which was wonderful. It was lovely to see them and catch up on their news. We did go and buy ourselves a lovely Nissan 4WD X Trail. We are delighted with it and delighted with the service we received from Schofields Nissan Newmarket. The car has been teflon coated and wow does that make cleaning it easy. Tracy helped Graham sort out the blue tooth which was great. We visited Tracy and wee Poppy. What a gorgeous we girl Poppy is, so alert and on to it. The family went out to the log cabin in Clevdon for lunch so that we could have some family time and give the girls their gifts, that we had ... read more

We have had a lot of happy times lately. The Monarch butterflies are all but finished with only 8 chrysalis to pop out and fly away. I think that when it is all over I will have released 50 butterlies. They are very beautiful. We had a lovely lunch out at Beachlands. Mark, Josie and Emily were there. It was fantastic catching up with them. Emily is a real cutie and her Mum says a little bossy!!!! Tayla and Jamie came and spent part of the day with us on Sunday. We had a great time. We baked scones, walked the dog for miles, made a hut and played 'hide and go seek' It was all great fun. Joel and Chelle were in at Chelle's house at Meadowbank. They are getting the house ready to sell. When ... read more

How Fletch loves Tayla and Jamie. As you can see by Fletch's face that she just loves it when the children come over to visit. The bed is Fletch's not the children's!!! Fletch is one very spoilt pooch. Joel has begun the vegetable planters. He has four to make so there is a bit more work involved. The Monarch butterflies needed a home so that they were safe from the wasps and preying mantis. Graham kindly built the butterfly sanctuary and we now have a number of chrysalis and many caterpillars. It was just lovely releasing our first butterfly, it sat on my hand for ages before flying away to freedom.... read more

We are having an incredibily hot dry summer, added to the heat is the high humidity. I can remember summers like this one when I was a child on the farm many years ago. The animals are finding it very hot as you will see in the photographs Fletch just lies down and sleeps. Oh for her life. I had planted Swan plants in late spring thinking that what fun it would be to see all the lovely Monarch Butterflies. How disappointing it has been. The plants have flourished but no Caterpillars!!! I found out that an imported Australian wasp has been eating my caterpillars. So out came the plants as I was not going to feed this nasty traveller from over the ditch. To my horror as I was cutting up the plants there was ... read more

Thats it... Finished school. I was so incredibly sad to leave today, I have made some incredible friends with the staff and the children are simply amazing. They all kept coming over for a hug before I left :( Well, it can't be helped, I had to leave and I always knew this was a temporary arrangement as well as a trip of a lifetime. And now onto my next mini adventure! Queenstown tomorrow, here I come! B... read more
