Tropical Sunset
Right on the beach outside our door! Bula everyone Lynda here, we are having a WOW in Fiji! I'm glad we didn't listen to all those people telling us to skip Fiji, it's the best. The people are the friendliest we met and the most helpful, nothing is too much trouble AND they make the best LIIT that we've come across although still not as good as the Hideout.
We've met some lovely people here including a honeymoon couple called Ruth and Stuart from Brisbane and Donna and Rod from Melbourne, and thanks to them for making our special time here so memorable.
The tradition at Crusoes is to announce all new arrivals and sing them a welcome song and then when they leave their goodbye song, both Tina and I had tears in eyes last night when they sang it for us. America and the Bahamas are going to have to go some to beat this.
I haven't even been off the resort because it's so lovely here, I done two dives - one a reef dive which was really colourful and the other looking for sharks, but unfortunately didn't see any but really spooky and eerie, everytime I went around a rock I
Village Life
We received a warm Fijian welcome in the village next to the resort. expected to come face to face with a shark. Also went through some caves which was a first. Great fun. Got up early this morning to snorkel as I hadn't done that yet and couldn't leave without trying everything.
(Tina)They have many activities here in the resort and we have participarted in a few, including coconut tasting and preparing, shell collecting, Fijian cooking, Village tour, Cava pounding, grass skirt making, Lei making, and many more, it really has been such fun and the people are all darlings.
Every night there is a different theme to the evenings entertainment, our first night was Limbo night which we didn't join in with but it sounded fun, by the following night we were more into it and it was crab racing and you guessed it Cane Toad racing, again as in Port Douglas we had to bid on the crabs or toads and then off they went, again as in Port Douglas we lost, but great fun anyway.
Thursday night was Island night, hence the grass skirt making and Lei making, lots of people made their costumes, although some like me cheated (didnt like the bugs on things) and just
Paradise!!
Doesn't this make you want to while away a few hours! wore sarongs and flowers in hair, etc., a really good laugh and Lynda won joint first prize for the ladies and Stuart won first for the men.
Last night was the Cava ceremony, for anyone who doesn't know Cava is made from the root of the Cava tree and is pounded to a powder then soaked in water and strained through a cloth to make the drink. Its a very serious business here and the first part of the ceremomy you have to remain silent and be very respectful, but once that it finished its one great big party. Its really not very nice to drink, makes your tongue go numb and supposedly makes you chill out and have a lovely sleep, although this didn't happen in our case.
They have a poolside bar here called the Frangipani Bar and they have a giant cocktail list which between us and our new friends I think all have been tried and tested and get the big thumbs up. Along with the two lovely bar staff Tocasa and Shaheed we have had some really good evenings chilling by the pool watching the frogs and crabs in and out the swimming

They have a saying here about Fiji Time and I have to say that 'Fiji Time' for me has been a truly wonderful experience and one I will never forget. Vinaka everyone at Crusoes for a wonderful holiday!!
(Lynda) The staff we need to thank are too numerous to mention, but you all contributed to making our holiday just wonderful. Thanks also to Colin, the owner and John and Narelle the managers. Stu and Ruth you've been fabulous and we've really enjoyed your company - we both wish you a long and happy marriage and we'll keep in touch as we will with Donna and Rod (hope you enjoyed Sydney, but I bet it wasn't so chilled as Fiji).
As promised we came as guests but leave as friends. Bula everyone - only two weeks now and we;ll see you all again. Lots of love L&T xxx
