HEY everyone!

ok so here's a quick lowdown on my past week...

to sum it up in one word...AMAZING...so many stories to tell...

Ok so from labasa (where i think i last left off....) i got on a boat to vorovoro island (about half an hour away)...all was well...i met everyone...the way it works is there is a little village beside a fijian village set up for the tribewanted group (so as not to infringe entirely on the fijian culture...) we hire only fijian workers tho to work with us thus boosting the economy...its a very ecofriendly site...we live in bures (traditional fijian houses with thatched roofs) There is lots of recycling and composting of all food (if it isn't fed to the chickens or the pigs) we grow our own food for the most part (pineapples, beans, cabbage, even peanuts) and if not buy from the local market.... we grow herbs and even have a farmacy ...a little garden with all healing plants and the description of them and what they heal (like aloe, echinacea and so forth)...its also on a beautiful beach! most of the fish we eat we catch ourselves (well the fijian ladies usually fish but a lot of the guys go spear fishing...) um what else...o we had a whale actually swimming aroudn the island he had been there since christmas but the marine biologist that was living there said that he was sick and sadly he beached himself on friday 😞 ....anyway... ok so the weather was pretty sucky for the most part of the week...we had to hide out in this big bure house because we were definitly getting the tip of a cyclone (or the one that was forming) the mainland actually got flooded last monday cuz of it! so that kind of sucked but i still got to do fun stuf.f..there was ltos of time to relax on the beautiful beach....just hang out with new friends...bonfires....lots of reading in the hammock (i stumbled accross a shopaholic and baby book and went to town!).... during the week i helped with a few projects..i helped to make a shelter for our pregnant pig...made some fly nets for the food (i'm not a great sewer but it was still fun) and moved some rocks for a water conservation thing (ie have a big basin and fill it with rocks and the temp changes at night will cause condensation on the rocks which makes about 50L of water a night something like that i'll explain in more detail in person ! hhaha) um...i got to hang out with lots of fijians...we had a big feast with the chief on tuesday...we sacrificed a pig (its a traditional thing dont worry i'm not in a cult!) and then we ate hime for dinner in this huge feast....omg it was amazing...just so much food.....curries, pork, chop suey....dalo leaves filled with corned beef and coconut milk....the fijian ladies also invited me to their house to learn how to cook fijian food and some indian food...they were sooo sweet ....we ate like kings...5 times a day...breakfast at 730 morning tea at like 10 (with fresh doonuts or crepes or som kind of goody and lots of fruit and tea obvi) then lunch then afternoon tea then dinner....the food was amazing...on sunday it was no gas sunday so we cooked everything over the fire (we get out gas tho from piggie poo actually....its biogas...more details at a later date obviously hahaha).... but other than that they made us the most amazing meals with this little fire burning oven and a tiny gas stove....i got to really learn about the fijian culture...i drank lots of kava (a powder made from a pepper root ...slight opioid makes your tongue numb).... i'll have pics up...but its like drinks at a bar...with alot more tradition...anyways thats a quick overview runnin outta internet time

love you all...i leave for australia in the morning (steve i hope you're reading this i come in at 12:20!!!!)

sending all my love...please email me i love hearing about how everyone is doing at home ...i'm soooo far away....but i'm meeting amazing people...but i still like emails!!!!

lots of love
