Monday 27th Februrary:
Until now we've had some pretty lazy days but I think this might well be the laziest of
the lot! We slept in late, found I'd shared my bug with Richard so he didn't do the gym
today but my 40 minutes up there is the only 40 minutes of productive time all day. We
got chatting to some lovely people over breakfast and it was nearly lunch time before we
got up from the table. We've done a bit of packing today, but not much, ready for
getting off the ship in Sydney and also took advantage of the free laundry here on board. Other than that we've done lots of reading, watching movies, playing games, drinking tea and that eternal cruise staple: snoozing!
This afternoon we went to the Guest Talent Show. "Guests with more courage than they
should have" show would be a better title for it because they're all incredibly awful.
We can only think that their friends simply can't bring themselves to tell them they're
rubbish because it is completely beyond me to work out how they think they're good
enough. Imagine all the awful auditions you see for things like Britain's Got Talent.
Those are the people who make it to the talent show on board. We went to the previous
talent show and could hardly believe our ears so this time we video'd it to bring home
the proof! At least that way you can relive the moment with us ... with the volume
turned off!
Our entry into sydney is tomorrow morning but sadly it's before sunrise so it will all
be in the dark. The harbour authorities are insisting we're tied up before 7 am in
order that we don't get in the way of the rush hour ferries. The berth is on Circular
Quay which is right opposite our apartment so when she sails for the return half of her
trip we hope to be on our balcony watching her go out. They're opening the front decks
of the ship tomorrow morning for any hardy souls who want to watch it all at 5.00 am.
We have a long tour tomorrow though so I think we'll get whatever sleep we can. We have
the advantage of being here for over a week so we can watch the Queen Elizabeth go out
from the comfort of a bar with a G&T in hand and a week later we can watch the Queen
Mary 2 arrive and, of course, we'll be on board her when she sails away from here on
March 8th.
We're really excited about our longer stay in Sydney. One of our Mah-Jongg partners is
from Sydney so we have some great recommendations for restaurants, shopping and beaches.
We'll also have a kitchen so we may eat at least one cheese sandwich as a break from all
the rich food. But then again, we might not!
This may be the last blog for a couple of days as we're running out of minutes and to buy more web time on board would cost 50 dollars and that's crazy for another 6 or 7 minutes uploading time. We get to our apartment on 1st March so hope to get set up then.

postcard.........
your postcard arrived today....thank you so much....it made my day...and what a beautiful view....currently in pride of place on my desk, Helen and I will arrange a rota to share. We are both fine, and survived the re deployment, which went relevantly smoothly, although a difficult 2 weeks for all concerned. We just need to be a bit busier (to keep us out of mischief) Love the blogs, I feel as though I'm peeping over your shoulder, you both look the part of International Super Travellers..What a fantastic experience love S xx xx
