We went on our final two dives today for our PADI, went the West Side of Exmouth where we also saw the whale sharks. Dropped down into the water and did our CESA, then headed down to do some skills at the bottom...we had literally just started and this huge Manta Ray swims by. Mantas are relaly friendly but you have to just sit still cause they will fly away if you try and swim after them. So we all knelt down in the sand and watched this manta with three fish on top of it, like bodyguards (!), swim around us...at one stage it actually swam right by Mike's head.
It was as amazing as seeing a whale shark - it was about 4 metres wide! We were in total awe. Our second dive wasn't so exciting but it was great to know that we were all finished and certified!
