Feb 2. Decided to try cumberland community newspapers again. Shot along freeway past airport but got off before toll. Finally got to \liverpool. Multiethnic. Journo Torrin seemed conficent of article. Photographer did some unusual shots, one with sticker in front of one eye. Pressed on to Campbelltown. Might get call next week. Freeway back to Rusncutters Bay. Good spruik outside YC to fill in hour tilk sailboat race on John's boatt Troubadour. Good fun. Beer at ancient club up the street from CYCA. Tin roof, bottled beer.They read out placings of all boats not just first three. We held breath, hoping not to be too embarassed. 14th out of 18. Dirty bottom slowed us down.
Feb 3. Spruiking Double Bay. Bloke said Anthony Mundine wants new flag. Went to Redfern to give him a sticker. Warned not to walk 'the block' so I took a detour to go in from other end. Varying accounts of danger or no. Walked with local bloke. Gym closed. Back in Circular Quay guy said he'd read about me in paper. Ferry to Manly. Got copies. Misquoted, colour pic. Ferries back to Double Bay. Drove to Watsons Bay. Long hot walk. Pint of Becks $5.10!!
Feb 4. Day at Bondi Beach. Spruiking, swimming. Encountered 'Bondi Rescue' filming. Pitched for another appearance.
Feb 5. Today's adventure. Took ferry to city, train to Bondi Junction. Found newspaper office. She said I ought to go to Burke Rd. Alexandria to opposition which dominated the area. Stopped at Redfern and gave letter to Mundine to bloke at Aboriginal Housing who said he knew Tony. Call from 'Macarthur Chronicle' journo. Looks good for article soon (circulation 100,000). Train and long walk through industrial suburb along street with huge paperbarks. Trash cane from tree. Even the birds were littering, pecking at McDonalds wrappers. Got to office. No journos, left stickers, got email addresses. Train to Chinatown for cheap internet. Scanner at $3.50 means I'll have to go back with media file and scan all for website. Sent emails to mags and D.D. McNicholl of 'Strewth' in Australian who did flagoz.com in '02. Then train back to Rose Bay.
