Barradale - (Exmouth) - Coral Bay We arrived in Exmouth and had breakfast in the town then headed to the National Park. We had planned a couple of days at Exmouth, but there were no campsites available at Cape Range National Park. The options were to continue on to Coral Bay or stay in a Caravan Park at Exmouth. The caravan parks weren't near a beach so we decided to continue on. When we arrived at Coral Bay the first caravan park was full - the second (only other park) had space though so we booked in for three nights.
We have been to Coral Bay before, about seven years ago, and loved it. The beach is part of the Ningaloo reef and is a marine sanctuary (so no fishing). The water is crystal clear and the beach is beautiful. The wind had been very strong overnight at the rest area and this continued throughout the day and night, and the following day and night. The cold weather was a bit of a shock to the system - we have been used to temperatures in the 30's and now they were down below 20, with a wicked wind chill.
The next day was spent fishing - and I had a go at it too... It was nice and relaxing, and the scenery was awesome. The next morning we went for a walk to Skeleton Bay (shark nursery) and then in the afternoon went for a swim at the beach.
From Coral Bay we will be heading South East to the Kennedy Range National Park and Mount Augustus. I'm hoping that the wind eases off a bit - I haven't been sleeping well with three nights of strong winds.
