FOR SCOUTS - Scout camping near Bunbury:

We visited the local scout camp at Eaton, near Bunbury, WA.

The facilities were typical of what you might find at a small present day scout campsite. It had ground for pitching tents and activities, bunkhouses, good indoor cooking facilities, an indoor hall and some obstacle course items. It had a covered outdoor area for protection not only from the rain, but as is common in OZ, protection from the sun. Being next to an excellent river, it was ideal for boating activities, but it had one little extra not found in the UK, lots of mosquitoes in the summer with the potential for carrying a nasty disease, Ross River Virus, see the warning photo.

Find out what the disease can do to you if you got it while camping here!

My guide around the site - actually a visitor from Freemantle who brought a group of retired ladies for a five day stay, so it is not just scouts that use the site. They come every year, so it must be good!
