Jin and Me
Waiting for Richard Marx Back in perth now, and it doesn't seem quite so impressive now, after Albany, and so much more to see!!
Although I did get the train to Cottesloe, which I'd been told was a nice little cove. When I got off the train I thought I must have got off at wrong stop, seemed to be in the middle of no-where!! I stood looking around and decided to follow a chappie heading off, that looked like a surfer. This was the right thing to do, I then noticed the sign that said 'beach this way - follow this road' 1km up and over the hill along a road passing some very magnificant houses and a golf course. There it was, and very nice too.
In the evening of course I had my ticket for the Richard Marx Concert, well SHOW really.
I got off to a good start, by getting on a train that didn't stop at all stations, and carried on passed the Burswood, so had to get another one back. Then I went for a G&T to warm up. Show was a bit of a disappointment, it was his last show of the tour and not sure if it
was the venue, the audience or him, well, it was just a show. Nothing like the Michael bolton concert at Wembly, in fact the theatre turned out to be smaller than our own Theatre Royal.
He sang some favourites, now and forever, hazard, right here waiting for you, and some new stuff. But can you believe this - no encore!! Even Richard James does an encore at the pub, miserable s**, quite a few people had gone down to the stage, waiting too, so there it was, glad we all made the effort Richard!!
When we all came out it was pouring, managed to get to railway station dry enough, but when I got off train, poured again, 10 min walk, so I had to run for it. On this same night the Sydney Swans had been playing the Perth Eagles, I was informed by a lady sat on the other side of me, who had received a text message, that the Perth Eagles lost by one point. There were a few drunken supporters waiting at the station.
I did make a new freind 'Jin", she is from Korea, came to Perth 5 years ago and met her Man, whose
name I didn't get, he was from Sarawak and has been living in Perth 11 years. They are having their 'Dress up White' Wedding for family in Korea in November. Although already actually married.
Had another afternoon in Freo (freemantle) and looked aroung the motor museum, very good. Trouble is, since I am back the weather has taken a turn for worse, more like April Showers at home.
I would have had more piccs for my blog, but in trying to get used to my new camera, managed to wipe off another 20 or so pics. I was trying to change the Pixels, so I have more memory and easier to post to blog. Didn't help that matey who sold me the camera didn't put in the 'Read this First' instruction manual. Wiped the lot, aaaaaggghhhh!! Thought I'd escaped machinery madness, left behind the photocopier, fax, printer, mailing mach etc. Now I have phone, camera and internet cafes to contend with!!
Trying to ignore these frustations, had a very pleasant day at Rottnest Island, this is home of the 'Quokka' which is where the island gets its name as they were thought to be 'rats' when first settlers arrived. It
is boasted to have the best diving in Oz here with warm water, limestone reefs and corals and apparently 97 species of tropical fish, due to Leeuwin current. The island is 11km long x 4.5km at widest point, and most people cyle around it. Due to the weather (honest), I decided to get on the hop on/off bus and walked a fair way, between showers.
Made a decision that I am too relaxed and time is going to run out, so I have made a few plans and got a bit organised.
Spend the next 5 days making my way up to Exmouth on an organised trip, From 18th Sept heading to Broome, on 25th Sept fly from Broome to Darwin, on 28th Sept join an adventure tour across land to Alice Springs (9days), on 7th Oct go from Alice Springs to Adelaide, on 12th Oct fly from Adelaide to Cairns, on 14th Oct I join a Oz experience hop on/off bus to take me down the East Coast to Sydney, recommended time 20 days, not quite sure how this will pan out, as time there is getting tight.
I have put my flight back to 13th Nov from Melbourne
to Hobart. But somewhere in between I have to get from Sydney to Melbourne...haha.
I think there are a couple of times where I stay a few nights to catch up on my washing, but NOT QUITE SURE WHEN I WILL HAVE TIME TO BLOG.....?? may just be piccys..
Will need a holiday after!! Oh yes NZ.....
