Capture the Dream!!
So I'm Will Ferrell and Danae is that guy from Napolean Dynamite...OMG the movie is so funny. "Capture the Dream..." "Hey that's good, where did you get that from?" There was some sort of server failure on Travelblog last week so a few of my entries have been lost. I'll try to recover them (I've recovered 3 others which were lost) or re-write them, although the details will be less than accurate at this point in time...The entries were all from a few months ago, so faithful readers will not be missing anything...
Blades of Glory! Alright so Danae and I had wanted to see 'Blades of Glory' since before it came out, but all our attempts to organize a team outing were foiled. And now that the movie had been out for, like, a month, most of our team had gone to see it on their own. So we decided that we should just go see it.
So Tuesday night, after our fitness class, we had a very random 'Blades of Glory' movie night. Monday night at skating when we made these plans we decided that we would 'get dressed up' in skating-inspired clothing (not actual skating clothing, it wasn't opening night so that might looked just a bit pathetic). So we wore our yoga pants from fitness, shirts with something to do with skating, team jackets,
Looking ever so stylish
Oh man those outfits were gold... and sneakers and headed into Freo for the movie. Of course that wasn't before we stopped at a very random restaurant in this rather sketchy part of town which randomly had the most amazing homemade pasta for reasonable prices!! Unfortunately, we weren't able to finish the pasta in time so we had to take it to go and rush off to the theatre. When we got into the theatre, we opened our bags to get out the pasta and found instead that olive oil had leaked out of the containers and over everything inside! Yumm...
Anyways, the movie was hilarious, and most of my possessions have seized to smell like an Italian dinner. I had not brought my camera, but luckily Danae had a camera on her mobile phone so we could snap a couple of hilarious pictures.
HARRY POTTER!!! I'd just like to say something to all my HP-loving friends in Toronto - I had the book 5 hours before you!!! The book came out on Saturday morning at 7AM in Perth, which would be 7pm Friday night in Toronto - 5 hours before the Toronto release time. MAHAHAHA!!!
Anyways, I woke up bright and early
A rainy Freo at 7AM
Haha the flash makes the rain look like snow! In Perth? Not bloody likely... and packed some snacks for my trek to get my copy of the final book! I was on the first bus of the morning out to Freo, and I was expecting a fairly long wait. Boy was I wrong. 15 minutes after I arrived, I was clutching the book, protecting it from the rain as I waited for my bus. Several passer-bys noticed my reading and asked me about the book. "Is that the new one?" "Yup!" "When did it come out?" "15 minutes ago!"
It was quite fun seeing all the cute kiddies dressed up and being there when they sounded the clock to announce THE RELEASE!! Unfortunately, when I got home I was dead tired, and decided to take a nap. I actually had other plans for the day than just sit at home at reeead...
Training Camp ...I had to put down my HP book and head to a 7 hour skating training session! Well, only 3 of those hours were ON ice but the off-ice was just as tiring. But it was a productive day, which is good news, since Nationals are fast-approaching...
MORE HARRY POTTER!!! So on Sunday I decided to put
down the book one more time in order to fully immerse myself in Potter-mania and go see the 5th movie. I quite liked it, I thought they did a good job of covering the rather heavy plot in a well-flowing movie.
The end of Harry Potter? Anyone who's read the 7th book will understand my pain - on Monday I had to leave the book (again!) with just 100 pages to go for skating practice!! It took all I had to focus my attention on SKATING and not Harry. After practice, I ran home and finished the book off. I won't say much more, I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't read the book yet. But if anyone wants to discuss the book, get in touch with me!
