Cottesloe Beach
Up at 6:30 to have breakfast and go for a walk on the beach. A beehive activity at the Surf Club! We get up early, since we want to have the breakfast special and go for our last walk on the beach before returning to Fremantle to shop. Marion really wanted to get back to True Blue, a place with original Aboriginee art that is well priced. It is now located in the Fremantle Market and is smaller than before. But the same owner Brian is still there and we had a chat with him. We also met several Aboriginees doing art work and playing the didgeridoo. Got some more hints to practice at home.
For those of you who have seen Crocodile Dundee, you might remember the “bush telephone” that made this erie noise when he spun it around at the end of a string. It’s called a bull roarer and we picked one up for a souvenir. Another original instrument used by the Aboriginees is a pair of Clapping Sticks, also called digging sticks, or tapping sticks, or dancing sticks. All these are used on the CD we got from the artist there. Marion was really taken by all this, got her picture taken with Brian, and received some additional free gifts! In contrast, the E-Shed markets at the

Some of the Aboriginee art on display. Harbour were a bit of a disappointment.
This day is a hot one, finally around 36C or so. So we don’t spend a lot of time walking around. Instead we decide to spend a couple of hours on Cottesloe Beach. What a great spot, good for people watching too. The Surf Life Saving Brigade is everywhere, with spotting helicopters checking for sharks, which are not that common here. After our last free drinks, courtesy of the Ocean Beach Hotel, we reluctantly return our rental car and are now hanging around the airport to wait for our flight.
