Edit Blog Post
Yes, as my title for todays blog suggests it has been raining, oh the woes! The day started off by waking up to rain, and lots of it. Eventually dragged myself out of bed, showered and had breakfast. Cheerios taste a bit different here, though still always good!Because it was raining, I decided to be helpful and do some clearing up in the kitchen, and then checked my e-mails etc. Eventually stopped raining so i popped on my waterproof, flip flops and iPod, and headed out into Joondalup centre. Found the station, grabbed a timetable, and then popped into the post office to send some postcards. Apologies if you dont recieve one, maybe later in the trip eh! The local shoppin centre was right there so i had a wander around, cool place though stuff not as cheap as i thought.
Having seen the "city" centre, i decided to go on an explore, so headed down to lake joondalup. Not much of a lake at the moment, though found a cool dawsons creek style jettie to sit on and take some photos. By this stage it was raining again but i didnt care, Im english! Carried on biking along the
lake, and got to an area of land that had been largely destroyed by bush fire. Was bizarre, one side of the track was all blackened and bare, the other side was all green and lush, though further on alot of the trees were less lucky. At one stage i found a tree still on fire, very strange as i didnt know what to do, but since it was raining, and getting heavier, i left it be. As i made my way along the track more, the rain really hit, and hard. The most amazing thunder i had ever heard started from nowhere, and yes we did have some flashed in the sky, but i felt safe surrounded by trees a lot bigger than me.
Having got to the end of the lake, i turned back up the hill toward the coast, and gotta say i struggled in the wind and rain. I cannot explain in words quite how much it was raining, but lets just say i came home more wet than if i had been swimming i reckon. Biked on to the top of the hill, and got a good view towards the centre of Joondalup. It
was at this stage i realised quite how far i had gone. Now usually i wouldnt of cared, but in that much rain I would of liked to have been closer. Headed back to the house, and went through some very neighbours style areas, and i think i said yesterday, but some of the houses here are really cool. Its great to see different houses, and not loads all the same. Eventually found myself back at the house to be greeted by Elke. She had come home as Josh had been sent home ill, apparently something to do with biking in the rain without a coat, supposedly as he was too scared to come in and get it in case he woke me up. Do i feel a bit guilty? yes, but at the same time, he was a bit silly not to come in!
Dried off anc changed into my only clothes not on the washing line, and therefore no completely soaked. My jeans and hoodie. Sad to be wearing it in Oz, but to be honest, it wasnt unsuitable! Made me wish i had my lounge pants here though! (Lets hope some dries over night, or I
may be clothes-les!)Sat down and had a chat with Elke over some lunch which was cool, and hear a bit about her job etc. I then tackled one of the tasks they had set me...setting up their wireless. Toby if you read this, thank you for giving me a job that has proved so useful and yet made it harder to say no to technical things! Was fairly easy setting up the laptop, though i ended up taking apart their desktop machine to get a wireless card to work. At this point i have to say thank you to Kerry, Emily and Alice, as without their swiss card with built in screw driver, I would have been stumped!
The boys were all back by four, and have just enjoyed the evening with them, having a bit of a laugh and mess about, and managed to catch some footy highlights, cant believe arsenal won with ten men, typical! After the boys went to bed I ended up watching an Australian dancing x-factor type thing, sad i know! Have been enjoying some HD viewing and i have to say, it is pretty impressive at times, though at others, it really doesnt
make a difference to the overall viewing experience! So that was today, hoping weather improves tomorrow, for my trip into Perth. I was hoping to put pics up with each blog though so far I am having some issue. I will try to resolve them soon!
