Did I mantion towel art on board the cruise ship? Each evening we would return to our cabin to see what our room stewards had created. This is a bunny. Note the chocolates.
We did get to Darwin of the Northern Territories. Unfortunately we did not get out of town to visit the surrounding area. Apparently it is hauntingly beautiful. We did unpack our bicycles and tour around the city. Yes, it was a little hot. But we created our own breeze. We visited the Museum (of course), the Botanical Gradens and some old Heritage houses. We checked out the city center and met a Canadian friend, Rik, who we had cruised with in Mexico in 2002/2003. He and his partner, Fiona, live aboard their Tyana 38 in Darwin. They are biding their time until they can go to sea once agan. Good luck to them.

Next stop was Indonesia. The cruise ship stopped at Lombok Island and Komodo Island. We visited Komodo Island to view the infamous, ferocious Komodo Island Dragons. It has been 20 years since a tourist has dissappeared (been eaten!) on this island. I really hoped to not alter this 20 year record. We were shown about by a tour guide and 2 rangers who were armed with big sticks....really! We saw 6 of the big fellows and plenty of deer (dinner). I guess the Komodo dragons did not

notice us or just were not hungry that day. There are some 4000 dragons on 4 islands and they are protected. Fine by me. They do not look very tasty to me.

November 9th found us at the end of our cruise and in Freemantle, a suberb of Perth, Western Australia. We were met by friends, Tim and Chris who had visited Comox in 1984/85 as exchange teachers. We have a lot of catching up to do! Plus we are shopping for a camper van to continue our Aus. experience. Yea!!
