Staying in AUGUSTA

Having awoken with another hangover from xmas festivities we decided to work it off and hired some bikes from the hostel for $12 each for the day.

We certainly got our money's worth as we biked a total of 40km each in 30 degree heat to visit Jewel Cave and then followed the coastline to visit the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, the most south-westerly point of Australia and where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean.

I foolishly paid $10 to go up the lighthouse, the tallest mainland lighthouse in Australia at 39 metres and 149 steps and whose light can be seen upto 47km out to sea. Although good exercise climbing all those steps, after cycling all that way I wish I'd saved my $10 for a beer as it wasn't worth the entrance fee (not at that price anyway).
