Nice view of the Kimberley region at the start of the Gibb River Road.
21st November 2012.

Early start today as we were keen to visit the Kimberley region and travel towards Broome via the Gibb River Road. Our first stop was Emma Gorge, but it was closed due to the wet season. Next stop, the Elquestro township. Hmmm, also closed. Every attraction in the Kimberley region was closed until April 2013. We were very disappointed until we saw the sign to the Barnett River Gorge. After 3km of muddy terrain and almost getting bogged, we arrived at the Barnett River Gorge to discover a shallow river filled with lots of green algie. We decided against spending a night in the Kimberley and headed towards Broome. We arrived in Derby (about 200km west of Broome) about 9pm and all the service stations were closed. Since we could not go any further, we camped at the Willare Bridge Roadhouse for the evening.

The Pentacost River has a rocky bed and can get very deep in the wet season.

Pedro handled the mud terrain without any issues, but Taylor certainly copped some mud!!!

Another shallow river crossing, ideal to get some of that mud off Pedro and Taylor.

The resort was amazing, it was great to relax and do nothing for a while. We took advantage of the lazy sunny days and lounged by the pool.

hey darls ive just started our travel blog - ive sent you an invitation. Have given it a false identity as we wanted no connection to our name when we are not at home for so long. Phil still has issues with cyber privacy and I have to agree with him to some extent. Let me know if you don't get the invite and i'll send you the link xxx
