Well we are doing that trip again across the deserted plain, this time we know what to expect, we planned to set off at 6am but it was too hot to stay in Kalgoorlie so we left after lunchtime, armed with a bucket full of ice and six 2-litre bottles of water and plenty of snacks we got on the road, about an hour into the trip I couldnt believe what I saw, a cyclone in the distance, it picked up all the red dust of the dirt roads and swept up into the sky, I took a picture but the reality of it was amazing, lucky for us it kept a few miles away.Neil did really well with the driving as we wanted to get across a quickly as possible, I did an hour hear an there, there's a part of the road which is a 90 mile straight so i did that as its boring and Neil thought I would be safe enough, although the road trains go past with such wind speed it shakes poor Blossom all over the place. We got to a garage about 10 0'clock at night they had a small pull on camp site so we
stayed there, a quick shower and food and off again,we got to the other side at last back to Ceduna where we stopped on the way over shelley beach campsite its good here. Well we got a cetificate for that journey over the Nullabor, never again!
Stayed at Ceduna a couple of nights to relax then off this time a different way back, were heading down to Port Lincoln this is South Australia we look in a t a few bays along the way,Port kenney( had to call namesake thing!) nothing much there then to Elliston were we stayed for the night, ants everywhere, we called at a coinbox to phone home next thing the ants were right up both my legs , as usuall I did a breakdance and the calls were aborted, Neil went fishing while I chilled out, it gor dark really quickly so I went out to look for him , no street lights at all, then I heard some footsteps it was my little Ken no fish though!
Port Lincoln- a big campsite on the hillside near the bay and a pier for FISHING, camped here for a couple of days and yes my man
has caught his first Squid, Neil cooked it up along with the steaks and my best wine Surf and Turf, perfect.
Lucky Bay we called here to catch a ferry across to a bay 2 hours from Adelaide, the ferry was good we put blossom on and sat on the top deck in the sunshine, Neil was hoping to see some dolpins just as we looked over the boat there they were, one was showing off jumping up and down alongside the boat, it was fantastic to see, I was too late with the camera.
Adelaide-this time the weather is great here, I never expected it to be so warm, its a nice place we stayed just out of the city we prefer the smaller pleces than the cities, I know that's hard to believe from two party animals but its true, got a bus into the city , there a fab indoor market with so much fresh friut veg bread and cheese etc, you could spend ages in there, had a look around the center then got on a tram to Glenelg one of there beaches, this was quiet busy lots of young people about, we went into a bar
for a drink when we realized it was happy hour better stay a for a few! good prices Aussie champers only 2 dollars a glass! A young lad working at the bar took our photo for the website, Couldnt find it though maybe were too old !
Murray River- this area is famous for the wine, I'm not allowed to call in them, I saw lots of famous labels all on the same road, Penfolds,Wolfbass,Lindermans, there lots of jobs here for grape pickers , oh I would love to work here! next stop Mount Gambia what a campsite its at the top of an old volcano overlooking a lake its called Blue lake- you cannot believe the shade of blue it looks false, every year from November to March it becomes blue after that it goes grey again.
Warrambol- got a camp here for one night, I desperatley need my wig cut, I need my little Prinny out here to colour and cut my hair its been twelve weeks now, I found a nice hairdressers in the high street the girl looked as I walked in, can I help she said looking stunned at the state of it, it dosn't
normally look this bad, come on lets see what we can do, Neil was shocked when I came out , it looked nice, not for long though in the heat and camping theres no point blowdrying and straightening everyday, good job no-one knows me.
The Great Ocean Road- the weather is a bit drier for this part of the journey not like on the way over, we had a look at Port Fairy then at Port Campbell, we went on to look at the Bay of Islands then the Twelve Apostles, the flies are really bad here , camping tonight in Apollo Bay one of Neils favorite places, got a good campsite met some nice couples all doing the trip were doing, flies everywhere so only staying one night, next stop Anglessey, this campsite has an indoor pool so we has a swim then Neil cooked tea we sat in our conservatory having a wine or two then these drinks in a can called Wild Turkey and Coke well there strong, we went to bed and the next day we laughed at the state of the tent we must have rolled into bed, after a walk in the fresh air and some
Two Wells Beach
nice beach but no swimming as the undercurrant was very strong. locals were beach casting as the salmon was jumping out of the sea paracetamol we set off, wanted to go to Bells Beach the famous surf beach, must say we have seen better, but there was no surfers today the sea is calm, called in at Geelong - the sun was shining on the sea I spotted a swimming pool in the sea it was fantastic we had a walk around it its been there since 1920, Neil saw a seaplane coming into the jetty he really wanted to go up in it, so we did, I was really nervous, the pictures are good from up there, well that all for now as we have decided to go back to Melbourne a bit early as Blossom needs sorting out.
Overall we enjoyed that trip,12,000 kilometres in total blossom needs a rest.
