The last day of school before the holidays meant a school assembly hosted by my niece’s class. They were performing a classic Banjo Patterson poem called “A Bush Christening” and she was playing a bailiff, complete with a drawn-on moustache. Through luck more than planning, I was back in Denmark and could go along to watch. With nieces and a nephew on the other side of the country, I don’t... Read Full Entry

Great Southern Classic Car Show

Sure were!
You've got to love coincidences that happen when you travel! Purely accidental that I was in town for that.

A fabulous accomplishment
Crossing the entirety of Australia is something we really want to do 'one day'... the Nullarbor has always fascinated me, but maybe I should heed your caution about expectations :) Well done for accomplishing such a massive driving feat!

Thanks!
There are still places of isolation to be found, but you have to head further north, I think. The highway only skims the southern edge of the Nullarbor. I will be exploring more in the years to come, and I hope you don't let my expectations dissuade you from visiting the Nullarbor!

Crossing the Nullabor
Gotta be one of the great roadtrips of the World David, and only the tough dare endure it. Lovely pics that are so Australian, they really take me home though the Nullabor is still waiting for us. Pleased to hear of the insects as in Russia we learnt that the declining insect populations are measured by the "windsceen test". Yep...the number of insects that splatt on car windscreens. Maybe there is hope for Australia after al!!!

Splat!
As painful as they can be, I certainly would not want to live in a world without bugs. I hope my experience is a sign of a healthy population, even if they were annoying at times!
