Part of my family of 4 10 Day trip to Perth & Southwest from 13th to 22nd December 2005
16th December 2005
Perth - Albany
Headed for Albany in the morning
En Route,
Stopped at Porongurup National Park
- Gilbratrar Rock
- Tree in a Rock (5 min stroll from carpark)
- Balancing Rock & Castle Rock (30 min walk to Balancing Rock from carpark) - treacherous last 10 min stretch to the top to Castle Rock - Mum could not make the climb. However, we were rewarded with stunning views down below us
Upon arrival in Albany, checked into Pelican’s Holiday Village ($95 without breakfast). It was a very well furnished deluxe apartment and we were all satisfied at such a good deal courtesy of Wotif.com
- Took a short tourist drive round the English-looking town of Albany
- Mount Clarence lookout - cloudy evening with light drizzle, it would have been a great trip if we were blessed with clear skies
- Was starving at the end of the day. Waited almost 45 minutes for the food!

Albany
- It was still cloudy in the morning. Read that the Farmer’s Market was open today, so made a trip there. However, didn’t buy much as things there were expensive
- Passed by Brig Amity replica - nothing spectacular at all
- The Gap & Natural Bridge - still very cloudy in the morning. Nonetheless, took many pictures there. The waves there were fierce, even though I still think there were quite calm considering people have been killed here due to killer waves splashing up to viewing points. Weather started to clear only after we left
- Stopped for a short while @ Goode Beach - 2 young boys playing in the crystal clear waters
- Paid a visit to Albany Wind Farm - skies had cleared by then, but the irritating flies were still buzzing around!
