Its about 7 1/2 weeks until the next adventure begins. Not that all of life isnt an adventure its just that when you are living in your home town and your home country things dont always feel exotic or special. Although I have only been back in Melbourne for 3 months after 9 years in Cairns it still feels very familiar. The city of Melbourne has definitely grown in the time I have been away, not just on a population scale but it now appears to have a level of sophistication and maturity that was lacking when I last lived here. Sure there are more people and cars but there is also a great deal more inspiring architecture, loads more small art galleries and eateries. They have built bike paths and walking trails, extended public transport and encouraged more inner city living. All very positive things, unfortunately they have also closed down several live music venues, provided very little new parking for the increased population and everybody still wears black. Regardless of these things for the next 7 weeks it will remain home.
Next year will be full of adventure and new experiences. Heading off to explore the world is always exciting, Im really looking forward to the confrontation of travelling through India. Im not sure what it has in store but Im sure it will be nothing like my little comfort zone. The people, smells, sights, sounds and no doubt more people will be an assault on the senses and I cant wait. From India its off to Nepal where we plan to do 2 months volunteer work, we get to live and work with a Nepalese family, hopefully this allows us to really experience the culture and get a good understanding of how people live their lives in a truly wondrous land, with very different values.
When we leave Nepal we head to Western Europe, but there is a long time to pass between now and then and personally I want to live in the now and embrace all that is before me.

Great to hear that life treats you well, Darren. It's great to know what you are up to, again !!India, Nepal, Eastern Europe.... we are very much looking forward to your exciting stories and LOVE 'sharing' your new adventures journey. Our
s will not be as exoctic that's for sure. After 3 years in tropical Cairns we finally packed up and are on our way across to Western Australia !! :-) The travel bug bit us again !Remember the ex-ambulance we used to have ? Well, we sold that one and bought an old school bus. After all, didn't buy a house so we thought "that will be our home from now on". It was already converted into a mobile home, even came with a micro wave; ripped that one out straight away!Originally we planned to cross the country from the East Coast via Mount Isa to WA. But that heavy rain we had for months not only delayed our plans but we had to change the route. So we decided to do the coastal drive now, which is all the way down from the Far North to first stop - Sydney. Took us 1 week! cos the bus only does 80!! even the massive trucks are overtaking us.Anyhow, Margs decided to say "Merry Xmas" to mum & dad in Sydney, remembering that they are getting older and that they will probably not see us for another 4 years, hence, we are going alllll around the joint.Tracey will be in Adelaide till middle of Jan and she's planning a Welcome/New Year party in Adelaide for us; oh'oooo Hope we make it, considering the speed of our travels !Then .... we will be crawling slowly up the West Coast until we hit the Northern Territory in winter. Got a job lined up in Darwin on a Barramundi farm; feeding fish !! That may be as 'exoctic' as it gets. For now, we say 'Good bye' ; lets keep enjoying and appreciating life cos it is WONDERFUL.Love ya, safe travels :-) From B & Margs xoxoxoxLove from B and Margs and Frankie xoxoxo
