Leaving Bright
There is snow on them mountains, we will be going around. That's what we thought!! Geo: -37.9189, 147.719
Left Bright at 0906, Sun is out, here's hoping the trip over Mt. Hotham is a good one.
0920 and we are looking at snow caped mountains. A sense of foreboding for Mick, while I click away with my camera. I did ask Mick, if that road in the snow over there is where we are going? He said no, we will go around!! Needless to say I was shitting myself, the snow was swept off the road, and he was having trouble to just keep the ute from sliding of the road.
What can I say, hairy, hard going on the ute, down to first gear, eary all the vegetation burnt, dead trees everywhere.
We stopped at the top, signs telling us to stay right of the orange poles, like yes, left and we would end up at the bottom of Mt. Hotham.
At this stage I have decided we will never do this again, did not expect to drive through snow, swept off the road leaving ice. I was shitting myself, while Mick said I'm okay, it's okay!! F.. liar, but I believed him, for a little while.
A cyclist went past us, when we
had stopped to look at what we are going through, it was like an appertain , then we also had three motorcyclist pass us. These guys seriously need psychiatric assessment.
It is snowing and surprisingly we arrived at the village of Hotham, it was a surprise, had no idea it was so big, or it existed. We tried to get coffee. Nothing open, what a place though, it was amazing.
We went through to Dinner Plain, at least I know now where it is and the road had improved quite a lot, at least it did not have any snow on it. We have been lucky today, no wind or fog and the sun is shinning again, once we had gone through Dinner Plain.
Had lunch in Omeo, lovely little place. Mick is still driving we still have some Curley roads to negotiate, it's his turn today to cop the difficult drive, and boy am I glad I'm not driving.
After Omeo we ran into a few showers of rain, not too bad, filled up with fuel in Bairnsdale then made our way to Paynesville. Booked into the Caravan Park and Mick is ready for a beer, so
Stay Right of the Orange Poles
Yep, no problem with ice and snow on the road we are staying right!! set up and by 1500 we were ready to take a walk to the pub. He deserved it today.
The owner said it is just 350mt down the road to the pub, along the foreshore. Okay off we trot and a kilometer down the track we pick up an iPhone on the path, went to the nearest shop. No Police station and did not understand english real well, the phone rang and a friend asked me to leave it at the Bakery and someone will pick it up. That done and time to play.
We arrived at the pub and had a couple of drinks, when it was dark we decided to make tracks back to the park. In the meantime Mick had done quite well on the doggies and as usual if he is winning I am just hanging in there. Good end to the day, heading home tomorrow.

Mick...............I know you like to excite Marie but that may have been a bit too much (driving through the snow with a van attached).
