My 1st pie!
I know it doesn't look the greatest. But it tasted OKAY! Week 5
After a long weekend it was hard to go back to school this week, but I got over it quickly because I was excited about starting in Mr. Kelsey’s grade 2 class. However, upon arriving to school on Monday I was placed again on pool duty. I tried to get out of it by telling the principal that it was my first day in David’s class (Mr. Kelsey), but it didn’t work. I spent Monday evening working on my final assignment. I wanted to have it done by Friday because I knew I had another busy weekend again.
I spent Tuesday, observing and learning how David ran his classroom. With in an hour I saw that it was going to be quite different from the grade 1 room. There are 19 students in this classroom. There is one boy with Autism, so there is an aid in the room the majority of the day. The aid also works with a girl in the class who is being retained next year. The class is divided into levels for maths and for literacy. The boys can be very mischievous and the girls are divided into their little groups (that
It's not that bad
Loz didn't care for my pie... change every five minutes). David is the teacher in the school that works with boys who act up. Thus, when boys have been naughty they are brought to his room.
I jumped right into teaching Maths on Wednesday. The student’s have a Maths workbook that they have been working through over the year. So for this week the lessons were over patterns. The students loved the way I said “patterns”. (they laughed pretty much every time I said it) On Wednesday afternoon I went over to the Lodge to see my friends there. We continued to make jewelry this week. There was another lady who came back from the week before, but all of the other ladies were new. Kathy left me alone with them, because she had a training she needed to put on. It went rather well, one of the ladies kept asking me about my family and where I lived. I finally told her that I would bring pictures for her to look at next week. Before I left that afternoon that lady stopped me and said “Don’t forget your pictures, because if you do I’ll hit you” I just looked at Kathy and laughed it
Loz and I
Celebrating for Cambodia off. (kinda scared me though) That evening I hung out with Iggy around the house while Loz went to netball. Iggy and I walked to the supermarket to buy a few things to make Pumpkin Pie. This wasn’t just any Pumpkin Pie. It was the first one I have ever made and it was made from scratch. That’s right I had to buy an actual pumpkin heat it up scrape it out and then mash it before I could eve start making the actual pie filling. I made the crust from scratch too. I’m not joking either. I was so proud of myself!
Thanksgiving Day! Well Thursday came and it was Thanksgiving. The day went rather well a few of the teachers remember it was Thanksgiving and told me Happy Thanksgiving. But by the time school ended I was pretty much down in the dumps about it all. I hoped my bag for the week from the Pickards today and in it was a picture that Kyle had colored. That started me thinking about what I would be missing this year, and I ended up in tears. It’s odd the feeling that over take you when your away from

Hanging out at the Couch it for Cambodia home on the Holidays. Loz tried to cheer me up by fixing me pizza and buying me ice cream, but it just wasn’t the same. I tried some of my pumpkin pie today. The crust was the horrible; but the pie part was really good. So I scraped the pie part off into a bowl and then chucked the crust. Loz tried to write Happy Thanksgiving on it. (see pic)
I got up at 5:30 and took my shower, and then walked down to the pay phones so that I could call home. I had the chance to talk to my grandma and a few of my aunties so that cheered me up a little. I was glad to hear that Bradley and Carl didn’t muck up the turkey. It was good to talk to everyone, but it was hard. At school today was Multicultural Day for Cambodia. The school picks a country every term to study about. This term was Cambodia, and it just so happened that Loz was in charge of it. Loz’s Father is part of a company that is building schools in Cambodia. On his last trip there he had some of the students fill

My students were looking at the posters from Cambodia out paper entitled PEOPLE ARE COMPLEX. These posters were then hung up in the library on Friday along with a slide show. The students at Cowes Primary also filled out the PEOPLE ARE COMPLEX sheets so that they could compare their sheets to that of the students in Cambodia. The students were also allowed to dress in the colors of Cambodia’s flag…red, white, and blue (If they made a gold coin donation) I found it a little weird looking around and seeing the student in regular dress and not their uniforms.
Friday after school I staid around for drinks it was a good time. One of the teachers asked me how my Thanksgiving was, and the Principal walked in on the conversation and asked me when Thanksgiving is because she always fixes the exchange teachers Thanksgiving Dinner. I looked at her and said it was yesterday. She looked a little shocked by my answer and nothing was else was said. I was a little hurt by it, but oh well honest mistake. Friday night Loz and I cleaned the house, because on Saturday Loz was having a party called Couch it for Cambodia.
Saturday we got up early
My New Mate
Loz took this picture...She said it was going to back Bradley jealous. Don't worry Hun! and finished cleaning and then ran to the store to get a few last minute things. There was a raffle, auction, and silly little things that you could do to raise money for the kids in Cambodia. It turned out to be a really fun afternoon; I won a bottle of red wine in the auction. What am I going to do with that! That night we went to the Pub to watch Dano’s band (Death Of Nexus) play. A bunch of us took a taxi there, because we were going to stay at Bree and Dano’s place. However, by the end of the night Loz and I choose to take a taxi home. However, when the taxi came it was a small van so we decided to share it with some people that were going near by. However, this drunken guy got in the taxi and wouldn’t get out. He ended up getting into a fight with another guy in the taxi. I honestly was scared. We finally got home thank God.
Sunday was a lazy day, to catch up for another full week.
