Arthur's Seat
High up overlooking Port Phillip Bay is an area named after a metal seat there Tuesday 24th February – Saturday 28th February By early afternoon we arrived in Somerville, on the Mornington Peninsula, where we re-united with John and Marilyn at their home. We first met them nearly 4 years ago in Queensland when they also were touring in their caravan. A couple of years ago we saw them again in W.A. and we explored Albany, Hyden and Kalgoorlie with them.
They made us feel very much at home, insisting we move out of the van into a bedroom in the house which they had prepared for us.
During our stay with them we were able to wash our dirty clothing, wash the car and caravan, and generally relax with them.
One day we spent being driven around Mornington Peninsula where Judy and Rags were able to relive the time they were there in 2010 as well as dropping into a large Jayco caravan sales yard.
Here we checked out both new and used vans, only one of which interested us. Judy didn't like the fact that the stove was right near the door -bit dangerous she thinks! The price was also somewhat more than we were expecting to
pay so we left with brochures for future reference.
The following day, we decided to go out and check at several caravan establishments in the area where they have the big factories, this time with the attitude we would not compromise on any of the features we were looking for in a van. To cut a long story short, we found one that fit with what we were looking for! No decision was made to buy it; we left the yard and went home.
The next day John and Rags left early in the morning to go fishing in John’s boat. John is a very keen fisherman, goes out whenever he can wherever he is, and usually does very well. Rags admits he is no fisherman, and on previous fishing trips with John in Queensland, the catch was usually abysmal. This trip was much better although John was a little disappointed. We came home with a dozen King George whiting, all close to 40 cms in length, as well as a couple of flathead. After cleaning them, John vacuum packed them and gave them to us to have later on in our trip. Very generous of him but
Thai Dinner
David & Kylie joined us for a meal on our last night. I think he hopes to catch many more on his impending fishing trip to Cowell.
That evening we joined John and Marilyn and their son, David with his wife, Kylie, at a Thai restaurant. A delicious meal was had, with good company in pleasant surroundings. As a bonus, as John wasn’t drinking, we had a driver to take us home!
That evening we also discussed buying the new van and on deciding we would, agreed on what terms we would accept.
An agreement was made the next day and the van should be ready for us to collect when we return from Tasmania in 3 weeks’ time.
Packing for Tasmania was a little difficult, what to take? Ended up with mainly warm clothing, but in layers in case it warms up.

Sorry I didn't comment on this last night. By the time I got off the phone from reading your blog to your Dad,it was time for me to go to bed. Judy. And that's just where I'm going now, to bed ! some-one must have breathed on me because I am chocked up with a heavy cold. So I will try and add to this Blog tomorrow if I feel well enough. Bye now, Mum xx
