After Lakes Entrance next stop was a town called Foster just outside of Wilsons Promontory Park on the southern tip of Victoria. On the way we made a detour up to Mt Hotham in the Snowy Mountains. If it's anything to go by Aussie ski hills are quite different to what I'm used to. Instead of skiing on what I would call mountains they ski off the edges of some really high plateaus. Steep though! Also that day stopped off in Buchan and toured through some limestone caves. Pams a bit of a fanatic it seems 😊 but we did see some new type of structures that she says she'd never seen before! These ones look a bit like rasher (bacon) - especially with the back lighting they put up in the touristy part of the caves. Somwhere between Buchan and Hotham spotted a wild emu trapped between the highway and a cattle fence. Didn't look like a happy bird but neither of us was about to jump out and help it... those things have claws! Also saw our first bit of bush fire. Most of the road to Hotham was burnt out on both sides and actually saw a bit of the fire that flared up on our way back down. Lots of km's this day (700 or so) but definately worth it. Foster is a pretty neat little town but very quiet.

Wilsons Prom was the stop on the next day. Highlight definately has to be the wildlife. On the road into the park we saw two LIVE smallish brown Kangaroos (we couldn't decide if they were monster wallabies or not). This was great as to that point our count on Kangaroos was 1 live and about 22 roadkill. Also spotted a wild enchida. They are a weird little ant eating porcupine/ hedgehog creature. Pam was very excited about the way he walked. Gather from the wildlife parks since that seeing one in the wild is quite rare so we were lucky to find this one crossing our path. Other than that the prom is very senic - hiked to the top of Mt Bishop also - incredible view.

That night on to Phillip Island, which was supposed to be quite senic but turned out to be nothing more than an expensive tourist park. Visited a wildlife park here and got our first sight of Koala's and

had a riot feeding the roos and emus. We were planning to go to the Penguin Parade the night we arrived but decided against it when we found they wanted $20 each, were going to stack us in bleachers with about 1000 japanese tourists and wern't going to let us take pictures. We figure in Tasmania or NZ we can find some for free (hope you're right Corey!) Other high point of the Phillip Island stop was the seagull colony... hehe... DON'T FEED THE SEAGULLS - THEY WILL ATTACK!

After leaving Phillip Island we took the ferry from Sorrento on the Morning Peninsula across to Queenscliff (bypassed Melbourne to the south to head off along the ocean road). The drive that day was particularily hilarious because the radio station we were listening to took a break from continuiously playing the Scissor Sisters and new Silverchair (Aussies or at least their radio stations seem to REALLY like these songs) to make fun of the American 'Astro-nut'. On air had their DJ's testing nappies to see just how much one could hold. Apparently about 1.75L of various juice and yogurt before springing a leak.... Queenscliff is a very old town. Not

If you can see the signs... this area recently burned in 2003. Same time as Barriere.
sure when it was first established but nearly every building in the town seems to be from the 1800s. Also great takeaway fish and chips!

Won't tell Emma and Aaron your view of Emma's home. With a glut of wine available, try the non name brand's - $2.00 a bottle in a case of 6 is not uncommon and every bit as good. R
