Well, the last couple weeks I have been busy everyday trying to find a job! I have registered with 2 temp agencies and did a couple of interviews already. I did actually get one job doing data entry for a company that updates farmers on grain prices. But it was only for 15 hours a week and in the middle of the day so it wasn't ideal as I want more hours so I can get more money!!! But it was nice to get the job. I did turn it down though.
I have just done another interview for a company called Ettamogha Entertainment. They do digital animation and a few other things. They also have some pubs here and a theme park. Anyways, I start doing that job on Thursday. However, it's not decided yet how many days I will be needed or things like that. But the temp agency is trying to get that all sorted out by the end of this week. But, I have 2 days of work this week so I'll take it! Haha. It's doing Administration type work.
Other then that, I have gone out a couple of times with Leahanne and some
hot jam donuts
An Aussie special of her friends who are all really nice. Melbourne is a very cafe type of city. There are all kinds of cafes everywhere you go and thats really cool. Leahanne and I went to the Melbourne Museum one day as well as to the Queen Victoria Market. That's where I bought my first boomerang from an Aboriginal and he told me the story about what is on it. There are two turtles 😊
I also tried a hot jam donut which is an Aussie specialty and super yummy!!!
I met up with another friend of mine named Alissa who I met when I was traveling in Italy. Me, her and another aussie named Elissa all travelled together for a week from Rome to Florence and then Alissa and I went to Cinque Terre together. It was great to see her again and get all caught up! She took me to the Vietnamese section of town and we had a great cheap meal and then headed to a bar for a drink.
Melbourne has an ice hockey team if you can believe it! There is actually a little league here of teams and they play against eachother. There
are a few Canadian guys on the team so we plan to go check out a game of theirs next week. They play at the ice rink here called the Ice house. It's a brand new olympic size rink.
Melbourne is like the sports capital of Australia. They have about 20 different arenas/stadiums for everything! AFL (Aussie football) is big here. We plan to go to a game of that as well soon. Should be interesting!
Fun fact: They have IKEA here!!!! I got really excited about that and Leahanne and I went over to it on Sunday afternoon and had a great day looking around. She did buy some furniture and I set it up for her that night. I've also become quite the little cook. I've made a zucchini, egg and cheese pie. I've made a couple of stir fry's and the other night I made falafel and sweet potato wedges.
It is winter here but nothing like a Canadian winter. The coldest it gets during the day is about 13. The last few days have been about 17. Today is cloudy but no rain yet. But they don't have heating and insulation in their
houses like we do so sometimes it's colder inside the house then it is outside!!!

HMM...beer and cookies, now that was not a favorite! Some odd looking buildings there in Melbourne. Looks more like another planet! I got a kick out of the stuffed animals in the museum. ha And we do know what the Canadian Flag looks like!!!! Thanks for sharing those photos, and keeping us in the loop Laurene.
