Well a little about St Kilda. The place that will definitley be my home until Jesse gets here.

St. Kilda is a neat little suburb located on Port Philip Bay about 6 Km's south east of Melbourne. It is a trendy beach area with about 45 000 residents. St. kilda is also known as the entertainment district and former red light district. Which draws many people here. The vibe here is very funky and laid back. There is really one main strip here, which is filled with cake shops, cafe's, restaurant's, bars and shops. The streets are lined with palm trees's and sidewalks always packed with beach goers, travelers and the locals. It seems that everything happens here. Especially at the big park at the end of the street, which has become a popular place for all of us to go on Sunday afternoon for beers in the sun. It's the "place to be". It also happens that the hostel I am staying at is also right at the top of Acland street. This makes living the St kilda lifestyle pretty easy. Im still not sure what the deal is with all the cake shops here. There is about ten down Acland! The beach is also about a minute walk down the road. The water is kind of cold, but the sand is nice and there is a boardwalk that goes on forever. I probably don't have to mention the women on the beach!!!! As far as meeting any Aussies, well, there doesn't seem to be any in St Kilda. I think we need to venture into the city a bit more. But when you have everything you need in walking distance you tend to get used to it pretty quick. Besides Melbourne is a zoo. More on that later...K

It is never appropriate to say "I probably don't have to mention the women on the beach!!!!"
Kyle, What were you thinking! It is never "correct" to say "I probably don't have to mention the women on the beach!!!!". It is however, appropriate to document this important feature of St. Kilda with candid photos - flora and fauna and all that sort of thing. Keep the images coming - ALL of them. Pete
