Cheers!
Champers for the winners! Hey Hey Hey,
What a night - and all we spent was ten pounds!
The live band were really good and playing all our type of music so were singing along throughout, we even got awarded more free drink vouchers for singing along so well - woo hoo! then J watched a bit of tennis with a group of guys at the bar who were all really friendly while me and Lizzie danced the night away - J came to join us for boogie once the tennis had finished! We were a little merry by the time we got to bed at 3am but felt okay when we got up at 11am for our trip so made breakfast and then started the long coach drive to Philip Island.
We stopped at a winery on the way and still managed to sample the 4 wines on offer, 2 white, 2 red and a port and then moved onto a wildlife reserve where we saw more Kaolas (you never get sick of seeing these amazing animals though) Kangaroos, Emus, Wombats etc but by far the best were 2 parrots who talked to you - we were laughing so hard, he
just kept on saying Hello cookie to us and then doing a little dance bopping his head back and forth! There are lots of nice people on this trip and alot of single girls so we all got together and found out where everyone was from - one girl in particular stuck with us for the day and was lovely, she was a 32 year old, Zoe, who is actually here working for a month (I think I need to find myself one of those jobs!) 😊 We then visited a couple of beaches and we stopped on one for a pizza takeaway lunch - yummy! before going to the Penguin Visitor Complex to learn about the little blue penguins and see them up close before taking our seats by nightfall to watch the parade. It was amazing - they are only between 30 and 33 cm in height but the most amazing little animals - they come to shore on a night to feed the little chicks that they have left behind while out fishing for the day, you see them pop out of the water, wait for a little group to emerge and then when one has plucked
Neighbours!
Outside Grease Monkeys up the courage to waddle up the beach they all follow, we even saw some of there little brown fluffy chicks come to meet them - it was fascinating and such a good day out for what we paid. (Only thing we would have changed was remebering warm clothes for the evening - oh it did say in the small print but both of us clever bunnies didn't see it!) Didn't return until gone midnight so retired straight to bed as up at 6am for the Great Ocean Road tour on the 1st Febuary.
We had a very strange tour guide for this one, when we 1st sat on the bus we both laughed as he sounded like the parrot from the previous day, to all 24 people who got on the bus he said 'Hello I'm Anthony, who are you, okay, well Hello...! It probably wouldn't have been funny if we hadn't been one of the 1st on but he was driving us mad by the end! We spent the day travelling the golden coastline and stopping at all the famous landmarks i.e. the lighthouse that featured in the kids programme around the twist that we used to
Neighbours!
Lou's Garage! watch, the home where Ripcurl and Quiksilver began and the 12 apostles (of which there are only 8 left, the last one to collapse was in 2005 and you can still see the rubble from it - an awesome sight) Got back about 9pm - really long day but excellent! When we got back we kept our word and had a quiet night packing before sitting in the dorm and playing cards withe the 2 guys from Nottingham - was a really good laugh, haven't played cards since Airlie Beach! and we all won at least 1 game - which is a good job as we all know how competative J was and she lost the 1st few he he... 😊 she kicked our butts at new market in the end though so alls good, I won all of the ....head and the other guys won trumps!
Today we went on the Neighbours tour and in all honesty was really dissapointed - I'm glad it didn't cost alot as it was still the biggest waste! The only saving grace was the fact that the tour guide was excellent at his job - he was so excitable and a comedian
Phillip Island
World's smallest Penguins aww so cute! from beginning to end! He made us watch famous wedding episodes and sing along! They were filming today which we thought would be fab as we could catch a glimpse but it turned out we didn't due to them taking so long to set up and it was actually on the street itself so we couldn't go up there either - boo hoo! Also met one the actresses who I had no idea who she was?! but at least we got to go to Ramsey street i suppose - which in real life is actually called Pine Oak - interesting fact for you all!
Anyway we are all set to be picked up at 2pm for the airport - really sad to see Australia go and we are already planning to come back but hey it's not all bad... New Zealand here we come - Wahoooooooooooooooooo! We love this life!
Love you all, take care. Xx Xx
