The Trade Bar
The prices moving up and down for the drinks Well...here I am, at 2 am, finally taking a breath to update this blog. This week is absolutely insane, which I'm happy about but realize that very little sleep is going to be taking place again this week.
This weekend was pretty usual, meaning that it was fun and it went quickly. Friday night we went into the city to the trade bar where the drinks worked like the stock market. The more people bought them, the prices went up and vice versa. It was pretty cool- until Theresa started getting sick and the bouncer kicked us out- that is! We caught the tram back to campus after this and I stayed up for a while talking to my roommate and then went to bed.
Saturday, I woke up and headed down into the city to get the last of the souvenirs (even though I'm going to have to make one more trip to get something from the Queen Vic Market) and went to the Big W to try and figure out my Halloween costume. I had originally had a plan of being the American flag but was not sure how I was going to make it work. Well,
I went with it full steam and am somewhat pleased with how it turned out. One thing is for sure, sitting in the apartment making it all afternoon was definitely like re-introducing alcohol to an alcoholic! I MISS being creative, I miss my hot glue gun, my sharpies, my ribbon, etc....so needless to say, more creative projects are now following that one. My roommate Dacil kept telling me I was not going to be able to get the stripes on the shirt to match up with the stripes on my pants...but pssh...little does she know what a perfectionist I am and they ended up matching up pretty darn well, if I do say so myself. In the evening was the Halloween party which was a lot of fun as most of them, about 90%, had never celebrated Halloween or worn a Halloween costume before. We told them they had to wear a costume to get into the party and it made it so much fun to show off all our costumes and see how creative they were able to be! It was impressive and was like being a little kid on Halloween again with so much excitement about the costumes!
Myself and Theresa
Scissors and the American Flag Sunday was a day to just lay around and relax since I haven't been doing much of that...so, I watched a movie on TV, took about an hour nap and then watched Australian Idol with Ayako like I always do, plus we watched the Aria Awards Show- like the grammy's, but Australian style. It was cool to see only Australian artists and hear their music...very cool. Also, last night, I finished the last of my IDC assignments for my online Bellarmine class. The only thing I have left to do for that is my 8-10 page research paper, but I'm doing it on the Media in Australia and as some of you remember, I'm taking a class in that- so it shouldn't be that bad. I hope to use the LONG exam period (3 weeks) to get that done so I don't have to worry about doing it when I get back.
Today was Monday and I woke up around 11:30ish and talked to my parents on Skype like I do every week...except this week with a 15 hour time difference- still so cool to me after all this time. Then, I headed to Safeway as I also
Balcony
Hanging out on the balcony- it was 32 degrees that night and there were about 40-50 people in their tiny apartment! do every Monday to do my weekly grocery shopping and hope to watch Days of our Lives. After Days, it was time to get a shower to get ready for tonight's Farewell Ceremony for the exchange students here at Swinburne. Then, I got ready and we headed off to catch the train. I literally ended up having to RUN to the train so I got my workout for the night...also quite hilarious, I'm sure. The ceremony was really nice but sad at the same time. Thede, from Germany, who was one of the very first people I met here during orientation gave a presentation on our behalf and included a PowerPoint with pictures and talked about how quickly time has flown by....it made it oh so real that time is coming to an end. Afterward, I caught the train back to campus just in time to see the end of the results show for Australian Idol and I have to say- I'm not happy. It's down to the final 4 now. And now, here I am, working on another assignment. I have two due this Friday. They never seem to end. Well, I guess after Friday they will...haha. Crazy that

The goodie bags (surprise for Wednesday) that I made my roomies for Halloween- gotta spread the American Holiday cheer! this is the last week of classes and then finals begin for people next week.

Until next time,
