Arrival was fast and easy. Took the shuttle into town. Found my hotel ok but reservation didn't work out so I found a map and wandered downtown to tourist info and booked a REALLY great place, a historical hotel right in the heart of all the action. Sigh...it's great!

So far I've wandered around town lots. Took the free circle tram around town a couple of times. Strolled down the many (really cool!) alley ways and arcades the city if famous for and stopped along the way for an espresso or two (which they are also famous for). Yesterday I joined a tour to Philip Island. This was fun! First we went to a sanctuary where I got to tickle a wombat (their feet are ticklish!), pet a wallaby, feed a kangaroo, and (no moleste but) spy on koalas. Later, after sunset, got to watch little penguins making their way out of the ocean back to their homes. SO CUTE! One in particular...he arrived earlier than the bunch, kept getting out and body surfing back into the water until his mates arrived. So funny to watch! Today I took a river cruise down the Yarra. Couldn't believe a couple of

people I met from the day before were onboard too! Great fun.

Next plans...a WINE tour! I spend the whole day touring around 4 different vineyards, sipping wine, munching canapés, soaking in the scenery. Sigh again...later!
