Greetings all from Melourne!!
Quite a few bits to fill you in on since i last wrote but i'll try and summarise to save you all from tires eyes....
Cool, so I was just setting off for a trip around the Whitsunday Islands last time and that was awesome!! WE went for two days and two nights and did lots of snorkelling and swimming. Because of the high number of deadly stinging jellyfish in the water though, we had to wear these uber sexy stinger suits which are like wetsuits but made from lycra hehe, you can imagine how attractive we all looked!
I got bitten by bed bugs all down my left arm which was also extremely attractive! That was in Airlie Beach and they stayed for ages - just going now but not nice. Anyway, yeah, so we set sail and it was so hot - I'll pt some pics up of our sleeping quarters. We finally stopped and went snorkelling and I've never seen so many different coloured fish in my life!! It's so much better than i had imagined....the coral was just everywhere and so different. We wore flippers and if you waved them
near anaenomies they closed up which was super cool to go round doing hehe. We got lots of underwater photos of the fish nd we saw a moari wrass which is a huge fish! Not dangerous but ever so slightly scary when you see it coming towards you. I also followed a baracuda whihc was exciting - i didn't get too close!
In the evenings we anchored in little inlets and had geat food - steak one night!! My head was right next to a speaker so i got woken up one morning by Duran Duran - couldn't really get much better hey?!
After the sailing, our next stop was Magnetic Island where we stayed for one night. We played a game on the way there on the bus where the boys had to think of ten questions that they thought the girls wouldn't be able to answer and vice versa. We had to invent a forfeit and when the boys won (one of their questions was 'when'd eric's birthday') we had to call them all sir for the rest of the evening, escort them to the toilet and get all their drinks for them! We forced them
to do our forfeit too though, just for fun, which was to dress up in our clothes with make up etc etc. Most of them wanted to do it so it wasn't really a forfeit but it was funny as!
Mission Beach was our next stop. Three of the lads from our bus were doing a skydive when we arrived and we'd planned to do one a few days later but decided at the last minute to do it with them so at 5pm we set off for the 'airport' and gor kitted up - ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! About an hour later, we started our climb to 14,000 ft in the little six seater plane with no door...... 15 minutes later I was on my knees in the doorway, with a man strapped to my back and no chance of saying i didn't want to do it anymore!! "Ready Rach?" "Ok, one, two, head back......" Then I'm pretty sure i was far too petrified to even scream!!! I'd just fallen out of a plane and was free falling towards the ground!! When the parachute opened i was relieved but to be honest, i never even thought that it might not!! It
was absolutely amazing and I want to do it again for sure!!! We were all on a hiugh that evening and for the next few days!
So, to Cairns....a few stops at some waterfalls along the way which were much needed and then onto the last stop before our hostels.....the AJ Hackett bungy sight!! I had no intention of doing one when i left England, but after my skydive, I was on an arenaline rush and wanted more woo hoo!! I signed up and payed before i could back out then watched a few people jumping. It was 50 metres and didn't look too bad from the ground but as soon as i got to the top i changed my mind. I really didn't want to do it! There were about 10 people before me so i had to wait about an hour which made it beter and worse - none of them died, but i had more time to 'admire' the view. When i finally got tied up, i was almost crying i was that scared. I shuffled to the edge with a firm grip on the instructors t shirt which i held right until the last minute.
I can honestly say I have never been as scared as that about anything in my entire life!! He counted down from 5 and then i jumped!! Ten times scarier than the skydive cos there's no one on your back, it literally just feels like you're jumping off a building - well, you are but you know you're going to stop. Yeah, it was totally brilliant, i would definitely do another one even though i know i'd be just as scared before i did it!! That had me on a high for the next few days too.
So after some time in Cairns where we didn't really do much, just went out in the evenings, I waved goodbye to lucy and laura at the airport to come here. They arrive today so i will go and meet them. I'm staying with Mark, a frined I met on holiday in England when I was 15!! Haven't sen him for 8 years so that's quite weird but he's lovely and so sweet with giving me a list of things to do while he's at work etc. He lives quite close to the centre so i can walk in or get a
tram to look around. He's go friday off work so he's kindly taking us to the great ocean road which is where he grew up and meant o be absolutely gorgeous so looking forward to that! (Hi Marky cos you'll prob be reading this hehe).
Cool, well i've waffled for long enough so love to you all, Perry xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
