Hello Everyone (and Happy Memorial Day to the folks back home)!

Hope you have been enjoying the nice weather we've been getting, both the fall temps here in Melbourne and the Springtime weather in the US! Yesterday, I went with Anthony, Naomi, and Nicholas to my first Footy match of the season. Here in Melbourne, Footy definitely takes precedent over Rugby (which is more popular in Sydney). If you've never seen a Footy match, it's a mixture between soccer and rugby. The field is oval in shape, but the ball which is played looks more like a rugby ball.


There are all kinds of rules that make this game soooo confusing at first, but the more you watch, the more you can get into the plays and the strategies! It's also a huge part of Melbourne life (the season goes from April til September/October), so I'm glad I've had an introduction to it and I hope to be able to see more games while I'm here!

Depending on where the player kicks the ball, a certain number of points are given: in between the 2 large posts= 6 points, outside of the goal posts=1 point
