So last day in Melbourne an d a few thing to add since my last entry. Firstly being my first experience of Aussie rules at the MCG! I was really excited beforehand as I'd never seen it before in any way and plus I was going to the MCG! It was definately worth it though, it reminded me of going to matches at home. There were loads of families (not suprising as kids tickets were $4) and it think a pretty good crowd of around 56,000 though the ground holds 100,000. It took a few minutes to get into but we quickly guessed at the rules and got into the game despite all the efforts of the coldness trying to get at us. The pitch was huge though, you could still see the lines from the rugby the other night and it made the rugby pitch look so small. After a high scoring game (you got 1 point for either of the side goals and 6 for the centre one) Collingwood beat St Kilda by 89 - 83 (I think???) we headed back to the centre and got chips before we headed to the cinema to see 'Knocked Up' which
was really good. No fun chairs this time though, we had to make do with normal ones.
Sunday we got our tram ticket again and headed for St Kilda (still not beach weather though) and bought chocolate scones before heading to the docklands. Seems to be alot of development going on there which is still unfinished so it was a bit empty (apart from the hordes going to the Aussie rules match at the Telstra dome!) Sunday night we got to watch stand-up in the hostle which was very varied, some were good and some awful but we really enjoyed it. Especially at the end when a fight broke out and puches were thrown on the front row and the comic was attempting a commentary for those at the back.
Monday morning and we headed to the Pixar exhibition at one of the museums. It kind of plots the history of the company and animation and acts as a kind of behind the scenes / making of all of their films. It was really enjoyable and very interesting to see how the characters came to be. As I said though, last day and the sun has just come
out, so I'm off...
