Day 61 - Box Hill North
Happy Birthday Hana! We hope you have a really ace day today chick x x
We stayed up to see Grant turn 40 last night! It went very well, he wore a Jim Beam beanie hat and counted down from 11.30pm then stood up and cheered at midnight which was the signal for everyone else to either go home or go to bed!! Don't think too badly of us though, tomorrow night is just going to be so full on it's frightening!
Anyway. We were back into the normal routine this morning with getting the school lunch boxes ready for the girls, walking the dog and clearing up after the night before!! We peeled a full massive huge enormous bag of potatoes this morning to make cheesy, cream potatoes for the party tomorrow and then the boys set about putting up the tarp in the back garden.
We've shopped, we've had hair do's and this afternoon we went to get Grant's birthday pressie, a new puppy! Darryl stayed at the house starting the party with the footy boys ready for tonight's game at the MCG which is Carlton v Essendon. Me
and Anna went across to Ringwood to see if they had a Maltese / Shitsu cross puppy. I was driving and when we got level with the 'shop' Anna was freaking out because there was already a huge queue outside. This is all very alien to me and I'm a bit nervous of what my reaction is going to be but anyway, I tell Anna to get out of the car and get in the queue having come all this way!
So, we're standing outside this shop in a big queue of people waiting to get puppies. Most have come for Labradors, we're checking because Anna doesn't want to miss out on a choice of the Maltese! After a long wait the doors are finally opened and everyone rushes in. We head to the compartment with 'our' puppies in it, there are two when we get there but they're both boys and Anna was hoping to get a girl 'Daisy'. She's disappointed. I'm getting more stressed by the minute and the lump in my throat is huge! The shop lady arrives with a girl puppy, but Anna is not struck on the colouring. I have a bit of a
cuddle with the girl puppy, she's cute, she's so little and so scared and the lump in my throat gets bigger. Anna is hankering after the little black and white boy puppy so the girl puppy goes back in the compartment. There's a whole big discussion about whether Henry will take to a little boy rather than a little girl and, well there's just a whole big discussion which results in the little black and white boy puppy coming home with us wrapped in my jumper. Anna wants to call him Dermot after Gran't fav footy player but the girls aren't keen so it's changed to Max! While we're in the queue to pay for him I'm a bit stunned that the people behind us have chosen a puppy as a 16th birthday pressie for a friend and she doesn't know this puppy is coming. That really scares me alot.
We get home and Grant loves the puppy, Henry is less keen! We give the new arrival and Henry lots of space, it takes a while for Henry to come round and re-join us in the family room but he eventually does and it's not long before they're playing
together which is lovely to watch. The girls are very good with Max and give Henry lots of love & extra attention. It looks like the new addition will be happy one. Phew! Max is sleeping in our room tonight in case he howls in the middle of the night ... or is it me that will howl if I wake up without him!
So tonight was all about the footy and a ladies night. Well us ladies had a great time chatting, discussing, looking after puppies and the boys ... well the boys are still out in the city somewhere, they've lost Darryl and Grant's slurring something about a Tram!
Tomorrow is going to be fun!!!
Night night
Sar (God-Mother to Max and Henry!) and Dar (who is actually already home with us ladies but the rest of the boys think they've lost him and are now panicking as they're still in the city!! Oh well, it won't hurt to scare them for a bit!!)
