This trip was meant to be a group outing but most backed out so I ended up being stuck with the boys. We left Melbourne at 6am, our rendezvous point was St Kilda Marina. The drive took 4 hours to Metung. We had a pitstop along the way, I think it was at Sale. Upon arrival at Metung, we bought our fishing license and decided to have lunch only to realize lunch isn't served until 11. So we just walked around the sleepy fishing town. We ate at one of the cafes along the pier - ordered the usual fish & chips. Having never fished before, we spent 30 minutes just trying to figure out how to hook the line to the fishing pole. Hahaha what a total failure we all were. Note to everyone, it's a bad idea to go fishing during long weekends or public holidays. The amount of boats coasting up and down was sure to disturb the fishes. Needless to say, we didn't catch a single thing. We decided to give up and decided to drive to Lakes Entrance. Gosh this place is like another 1.5 hours drive. We arrived at 2pm, walked around the town, took some photos and decided to drive back to Melbourne & beat the traffic. We didn't arrive in Melbourne until 7pm, we were so buggered - we all just hit the sack upon arriving home. Never again. -_-

It's such a pretty place but it's too far and most definitely not a place to visit on a day trip. Lesson learnt.
