MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
TO ALL WHO HAVE FOLLOWED
THE JOURNEY-OF-FAITH
BLOG
On
Saturday 21st December the Albrighton library will close for a Christmas/New Year break reopening on
Monday 6th January. As the library is our best and sometimes only facility where we can issue our Blog this may be the last update until 6th January.
We hope you have enjoyed keeping up with our travels and our Ministry since we started in April. Thank you for your comments, emails, support and of course your Love and Prayers. God has been good to us and provided us with all we have needed. We have made so many new Christian friends both here in the UK and on our travels between Hastings and Traralgon and we know through God this will continue to grow during the next 12 months, again both here in the UK, Australia and wherever He sends us next. His will be done.
It's going to be a different Christmas for us here in the UK, the days are shorter and the signs of Christmas are everywhere with most Christmas lights on around 3.00pm. The weather
is cold but we are still looking for the first signs of snow and maybe a white Christmas. St Chads and St Marys is in full Advent mode with lots of events celebrating the birth of our Lord.
Members of our Holy Trinity congregation received a pocket diary from St Marys, a gift from there congregation to ours and we pray that they find them useful.
On
Wednesday 4th December Evelyn attended the Ladies Link Christmas party consisting of a full Christmas dinner with Turkey, Christmas pudding and wine. Plenty of raffles were held with Evelyn winning a Christmas table decoration. Entertainment was provided by male members of the St. Marys musicians including one dressed as Elvis one as an Elf and of course one as Santa, everyone joined in the singing of Carols and Christmas songs A good time was had by all. Church people all over the world know how to enjoy themselves.
Friday 13th December we walked to The Summer House, a nice pub just a few hundred yards from the Manor, to attend the second Chip & Chat night, our first, held by St Chads. The event was well attended by 24 congregational
members & friends. The dining room at The Summer House was, as you would expect for this time of the year, well decorated for Christmas. The organisers had received the ok from the pub management to bring an electronic keyboard so we could have a sing song after dinner. The night started with drinks and salad followed by either fish & chips or roast from the carvery and lots of chat. After the tables had been cleared the electronic keyboard fired up and copies of the 'The Bethlehem Carol Sheet' distributed to all patrons in the dining room we all launched into song including some favourite carols. As the night progressed we were well entertained by a couple of keyboard players and four of the St Chad ladies showed off there dancing prowess. Church people certainly know how to enjoy themselves and celebrate the Lords birthday. What a great night.
Sunday 15th December we attended the Sunday Prayer Service at St Chads and during the service we were given the privilege of lighting the Advent Candles, Peace and Joy from the previous weeks and Love for this week.
We both attended the Tea Cosies Christmas party on
Tuesday 17th December and what a great afternoon we had with plenty of food, Church people the world over know how to eat, plenty of laughs and again music provided via an electronic keyboard allowing us to sing along to Christmas Carols.
The St Chads Carol Service will be held on
Friday 20th December. We form part of the Bonigales a choir that will be singing on the night and Evelyn has been asked to read from Isaiah 11, v 1-9. We will provide more information in the post-Christmas Blog.
We will be attending the Traditional Service of Readings and Carols at St Marys on the evening of
Sunday 22nd December where we both have been asked to read the scriptures during the service, once again God is good to use us as we continue our involvement in both Churches. We also plan to attend St Chads Christmas day service at 9.00am. Although there is an 11.00pm Christmas Eve service at St Marys the time, distance and short days will mean we will not attend.
As
Sunday 29th December is the 5th Sunday of the month a combined Churches Communion service is held and this month
it will be at St Chads so it will be good to see the small Church full.
For New Year Bob the owner of the Manor is holding his regular Hogmanay party to which we have been invited and will be attending so something different for us, a big New Year's Eve.
Now for something a bit different THE CHRISTMAS GIFTS ( To be read in Black Country dialect ) When Crimble Times comes round each year, Presents we give, to those that we love, and those we hold dear.
But how many know what the giving of Christmas gifts is really about?
For them wot doe know and them wots forgot, I'll tell yer a tail of long, long ago.
It's about three Wise Men wot travelled afar, from the Orient it's sed
Each one was a king, with a crown on his yed.
They travelled by day and they travelled by night, Follwing a bright star, wot gid lots o' light.
Bethlehem was the plerce where the star come to stop, Right over a stable to be quite precise.
The three blokes they knocked on
the dower, And sed " Con we come in ?"
Mary said, " Yes come right on in, Weem bin expectin yow, weer have yo bin ?"
The three Kings (cause that's wot they was) Entered the stable, and wot did they see ?
A new born babbie, fast asleep on the hay, All wrapped in swaddling clothes,
and in a manger he lay.
" What dun yo call him ?" one on um sed, " Jasus " sed Joseph, with a nod of his yed.
The Kings, they'd brung gifts for to give to the child.
Wot laid there asleep all meek and all mild.
The fust un gid gold (a precious metal)
Cause Jasus ud become a king one day he sed, Ar, King of Heaven, and King on the Jews.
Second un brung frankincense (a sweet smelling incense)
For all the sweet and good things Jasus would do, Like feed the five thousand and raising the jed.
Last un gid myrrh (a bitter tasting herb)
Because of the bitter and painful way Jesus would meet his demise, Nailed to a cross and left there to die.
So when youm opening ya pressies, From under the tree
Owd up ! Just for a Mo ! And think of that babbie wot was just born.
THE END, We hope that you have enjoyed the above from Wolverhampton The Blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of God and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all Evermore.
God’s Blessing to you all.
