First stop today was at Burnie for a few incidentals prior to moving from the coast southwest through State Forest. It was cool but the sun was shining as we drove out of Burnie; however, just 15 minutes had passed before the dark clouds started rolling in as we ascended through the hills.

Driving through Hellyer Gorge State Reserve was a highlight as the dense rainforest surrounded us when we zigged and zagged through some of Tassie's finest. We stopped at Hellyer River and took a magnificent walk through the forest alongside the water's edge.

It was getting late in the afternoon and after trying for a few free camps we stopped at Gowrie Park Wilderness Village for the night. The camping site is situated near Mount Roland Regional Reserve. We were based at the foot of the surrounding mountains that provided stunning views as the sun started to set.
