Edit Blog Post
We could sleep in a bit this morning, phew. Everyone woke up at about 6:45 for breakfast and hair braiding session. Kieran, Leila, Jeremy and I are definitely learning more about these kids. Some are excellent to work with others, some are very independent and some are very caring and generous to others.

First School – Cambridge
This school has eight swings in a row. Isn’t that impressive. The school has brand-new buildings with last year’s BER program. Great audience , possibly the most difficult surface to skip on so far. (thick carpet)

Richmond + Maze and a spontaneous performance by Ellie Wilkinson
Our second performance was cancelled, so of to the maze we went. We drove in and park the van to be greeted by an old man named Peter with a big moustache. He was amazing a calligrapher and was actually the owner of the mazes. He wrote our names in really cool calligraphy and then we set off onto the first maze. We went in our competition teams. Bec, Molly, Georgia and I verses Louis, Camryn, Lulu and Fintan. Bec, Georgia and I got there first but of course Molly
got left behind so we lost because the whole of our team wasn’t there. L On the second maze though…….. we lost again but luckily it wasn’t worth a point! We found our way out of the mazes and drank our slushies while discussing our team performances. We had a lot of spare time but luckily Megan talked to a school that was across the road and we got to do a spontaneous performance!

Third performance – Rokeby High School
Two primary schools around the area also attended our performance followed by a workshop for Year 8 and 9 + prefects. The workshop went quite well although everyone found it challenging teaching skills to some high school kids who are not excellent at making effort to achieve goals. We found even primary school kids here are not able to handle challenges well. Two kids who were selected by our skippers to try double dutch at the end of the show didn’t even want to try after the first or second failure. Maybe it’s the effect of the lack of successful experiences but just so sad to see kids give up
so easily to take easier option to get out of certain situations. I should mention that some of the high school kids did enjoy the experience with Northbridge skippers and hopefully they learnt something new today.

Shopping at Salamanca Place – By Louis Byrne
After our performance at Rokeby High we headed to Salamanca Place where we went to a chocolate shop, Socrates and to a fairy store. The chocolate shop had many selections of white dark and milk chocolate. Lulu and Bec were fascinated in the herb cutting scissors which were basically four scissors combined. At Socrates we found massive slinkies and birds that clicked down a pole but the whole group was mainly fascinated by the windup toys. There were cats that did backflips, people that did splits, clowns the rolled around, machines that bounced everywhere, seals that spun a ball and hippos that waddled across a floor in which it couldn’t get a grip on. At the Fairy store we found wings and wands, after exploring the store we all sat down in the lobby of the store and listened to Kieran and Jeremy tell stories in which I had my
name at least once in. We also wrote wishes which we dropped into the “Fairy Well”. After reading some other peepses wishes we left to Woolworths and then back to the cottage where we than prepared for our competition.

Pizza making competition –
Each group of four skippers made 2 pizzas for the competition. Each pizza was judges by Kiera, Leila, Jeremy and TK for difficulty, creativity, SPEC and LOL factor. Competition was fierce.

Team Introduction Competition –
Each team had to make up a performance today to introduce themselves as a team.
Team 4D – Camryn, Fintan, Louis and Lulu
Team Unikorn. – Ellie, Bec, Georgia and Molly
Both teams did a fab job and yep, they were quite funny

Trivia Night –
We also held a Trivia Night tonight and each team was challenged by Kieran, Leila, Jeremy and me with rather tricky questions, Some questions were left unanswered –
“Name the Health Minister of Tasmania.”
We met her on our first day. Hope you remember her name. Michelle O’Byrne
“Name three fruits we found in the fruit
bowl located at the TAS Heart Foundation office.” Apple, banana and mandarine.
“Who is the owner of the MAZE in Richmond?” – It was Peter!!
